Jockeys earn their keep. Some pay the ultimate price for their love of the sport. But so too do others. Pro bike riders have balls, I should imagine Oddy would agree. The Tour Downunder saw stage 4 today, it had one hell of a finish. The film below captures a point just before the finish. I'll stick to cars thanks.

Ouch that's got to hurt. The guys behind would have a job getting back into a low gear to get going again.

    Report here

"BMC's Rohan Dennis was held up by a crash in the finishing straight, but due to rules he will be attributed with the winner's time, meaning he keeps the race lead."

    Interesting

Yeah Ron, there is a rule that if a crash occurs inside the last few kilometres or so, (I can't remember whether it's 3 or 4 Ks) those affected get the winners time. Same as the bunched sprint, if 50 of them cross the line in a bunch, they all get the same time as the winner. I can't remember the exact rule, but I think there needs to be more than a second between one rider and the next to get a different time, but as that's rarely the case in massed finishes, the 50th rider can be awarded the winners time. But being a Frenchman now, you know already all that. :)

That was brutal Cyc. I know the drugs stuff has sullied the reputation of the sport but these guys are unbelievably tough. Also the mechanics who hang out of a car and fiddle with a riders gears millimetres from spokes whizzing round at 30mph have to be insane.
