Have you seen the bottom of the championship, early days but already adrift, Fulham, Bolton, then Wigan, Birmingham. Think that's the right order but that could be easy bottom of premiership. Wow

It happens. I remember the first time we went down in 1958. We all thought we'd be back in a year, easy-peasie, ho-ho-ho. We were fifteenth, and the following year we were sixteenth! It took us five years to get back. Going down into Div.2 (Championship now) is never easy.

Could have been us, but for Roy Keane. He may be an arrogant, thuggish, kernt, but he didn't half save our bacon.

True enough, Sid. Same with Stokoe in Nov. '72. When he arrived, we were fourth from bottom in Div.2 - but only on GD! On points, we were joint second bottom! We were looking for all the world Div. 3 fodder before Stokoe and Keane came in.

That season, our first ever game outside the top division, away to Lincoln we lost 4-1, nobody could believe it, how naive we were in those days.

We weren't naive, we just 'kept the faith'. And they betrayed it. I've never done it since. Never will.
