as on my blog - Beverley 2.15 - A tough race for such young horses, 7 furlongs and a hundred yards at Beverley, and its a race that you want a horse with good stamina. Broxbourne is one that I like in this respect, and even though this is its debut, I think the trip should suit perfectly. Refuse To Bend out of a Darshaan mare, breeding to me that says 7 furlongs and further. 1pt win. Brighton 2.30 - A poor race on paper but we should perhaps give Marygold the nod. This horse is exposed, and not very good, but I think this race looks set up for her. She is able to race off a low weight in this auction race. 1pt win Newbury 6.40 - A good maiden and one that could prove very informative. I really like the Huma Bird form shown here by Meehan's Mention. Mention ran well behind Huma Bird on debut (first three all had experience) and I think she is the type to come on a good deal for that run and win a good maiden for the yard. 1pt win Newbury 7.15 - A good maiden over a decent trip, its the sort of race that will throw up good prospects for the future. Questing is interesting as she is out of a very talented mare who carries blacktype, whilst the sire Hard Spun has two from three winners in his first seasons crop. 1pt win
Why has the name of the thread been changed? Are pagans not allowed to celebrate the solstice now? Seems a bit harsh. Anyway, i'm not one but would like to take the opportunity to wish all those who will be celebarting today a very happy time. Anyway, my selection is in the 3-45 at beverley. Course and distance winner who i think should have every chance of going in again today - Thinking.
Morning chaps Nass did you see Hughes picked up a 7 day ban for careless inteference yesterday ? did you see the incident and if so do you think he deserves to miss the Newmarket July meeting ? cheers
he did cause the other horse to clip heels and fall which could have led to a very bad injury for the jock and horse so therefore i believe the ban was justified
It was a nasty incident. The colt was hanging left under a right hand drive and Hughes carried on using the whip despite her moving across others. He didn't attempt to get her straight in my opinion and I am surprised that he has only got seven days for it. I would have expected a jockey to stop using the whip in a situation like that, until he has the horse straight again. However he carried on using the whip, and she carried on running away from it. The ban is fair enough and he does deserve to miss the meeting as that is just tough luck. Its great for Ryan Moore though, he will bag some very good rides.
i am away but im still here i can sort out all my stuff for my holiday and keep popping on the t'internet RV I fly on sat morning now then i will be back home can't wait for that smell you can't beat the smell of the dew on the grass as you look across the fields on a Tipperary Morning
