Evening all I have an early fancy for tomorrow so have stuck up this thread now, hope everyone is ok with that. KAZBOW 3.25 DONCASTER (Backed at 8/1 BOG) A competitive and difficult looking handicap to solve on first glance, but I am convinced that Kazbow will run a big race here. He is a horse I have followed for a while now. He was a progressive 4yo and returned to the track after almost a year off in a class 2 handicap at Newmarket in which he finished 2nd last, he didn't weaken right out of things until the final 2f though and I am convinced he just needed the run that day. His second and most recent appearance of the season came at York earlier this month finishing 12th of 16, but he shaped a lot better than that. For me he was going as well as any if not the best turning for home, I would have perhaps said he didn't stay the 2m but he weakened about 3f out but for me that again looked to be lack of fitness. He should be spot on now and I think he has been lined up for this race (he won it last year by 10 lengths) There are a lot more runners this year but considering there is a chance he could still be improving and the fact he started off this season on a mark of 90 and has now been dropped to 84 (won this off 79 last year) gives him a serious chance in my opinion. good luck all
Chester 6.40 - Gabrial's Princess - Not a good race but one that could turn out to be a fair pointer. We have a runner from Tom Dascombe that ran well enough on debut and comes here and gets stall one, however we get to see the Marwan Koukash silks once more and that for me is a big positive for Gabrial's Princess. Its also not very often that a horses name suggests that they like it a good deal, Mr Koukash has a son called Gabrial and has named good 2 year olds after him this season. It has a nice draw in stall 2 and I expect a big run. 1pt win Doncaster 2.20 - Lesotho - A fascinating little maiden in which we have big two year old stables competing with interesting runners, however the one I like is Lesotho of the Quinlan yard. She is related to four black type holders and I think she is overpriced at 10/1. The race normally finds a useful sort. 0.5pt EW Doncaster 4.00 - Basantee - A little novice race that could be muddling, we have some useful form in the book but the one bit I like the most is Basantee's Southwell romp. She ran fairly well when she took in a listed race in Ireland, getting outpaced by a better field than this. 1pt win Folkestone 2.30 - Mizbaah should win but at long odds on its not one to bet on for me. Newmarket 6.30 - Proud Pearl - One of a very few horses that have the words 'very good' next to its name in my formbook, and I really fancy it in this maiden. Its a very classy looking race with Godolphin bringing two runners, one with good course form and the other looking a likely type on breeding. Hannon and Gosden both bring newcomers, however Proud Pearl stands out above the field for me. She ran very well at Haydock, she was in the rear half of the field and came towards the front in eyecatching style under a sympathetic ride. She looked very promising and green but I expect her to come on for that race, then you can add in the fact she is a Meehan horse on her second run. 5/2 3pt win.
Folkestone 2:30-Mizbah 8/13 BOG In his 3 starts to date all in Maiden Company he has improved with each outing.Made the running the last day when 2nd to Sovereign Debt at Doncaster over 6f,Shaping as if this step up to 7f will definitley suit.Is quite a bit ahead of the rest of this field in my opinion and will take all the beating. Doncaster 2:20-Colourful Notion 4/1 BOG Ran green on debut on the AW when 4th but was bumped heavily as the gates opened that day and came on from that when travelled stronmgly for a long way when 3rd at Kempton the last day.First start on turf should see some more improvement and can go close at a nice price. 2:50-Trojan Rocket 5/2 BOG ran on late on debut over 6f at Kempton in late December to grab 5th.Ran a similar race when running into a distant 2nd on seasonal reappearance and should run into a place again here. 4:00-He's So Cool 11/4 BOG Won the Brocklesby on his 2nd start and relished the step up to 6f when being allowed to dictate the pace and winning well at Newcastle last month.Didn't handle the undulations at Epsom on Derby day but still finished a good 6th.Small field here and he may be able to get his own way up front again,If he does he will take some pegging back. Newmarket 6:30-Gamilati 4/5 BOG Strong filly who really takes the eye on the Heath in her morning work and she was mightily impressive over C+D on debut,Travelling strongly and only just beaten into 2nd.She ran to a very high figure that day and will take some stopping here. Newcastle 7:45-Jamesway e/w 8/1 BOG Wouldn't have even looked at this horse if nass hadn't mentioned it on last nights thread but had a look at its previous races and can see nass's point. Have also put the 2 Goldophin runners in a win double GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY
famouswise: Agree entirely, my only bet of the day after seeing Nassau's pointer and reading-up on it a bit. Managed to get 9/1 yesterday evening and decided to back it on the nose; I mean - what the heck! GL everyone today, and watch the weather!
Morning all. I like Bajan bear in the 435 at Doncaster today. Won over the disatnce and at the bottom of the handicap today - looks an interesting bet.
Morning all I am thinking about backing Jan Vermeer tonight at the Curragh, any one got thoughts on him tonight. Will he have recovered from his pacemaking duties at Ascot ? and does he still have all of his old ability ?. I dislike the way Famous Name has getting a reputation he wins the worst group races of all time and was firmly put in his place last time out, fair enough SOYOUTHINK won the race but an out of sorts Campanologist was also a couple of lengths in front of him. I would be hopeful Jan Vermeer or Elusive Pimpernel could turn him over tonight
Morning all, hope everyone is well. 3.50 Market Rasen - No Panic (NAP) Peter Bowen's charge bounced right back to form at Fffffooooss Lllllaaasss last time out over slightly longer and won over 2m6f at Market Rasen this time last year (Gd/Fm) off 120 carrying 11st12. Nostringsattached did not look the most willing partner last time and whilst Ostland is respected he looks high enough in the weights on handicap debut. Good luck to everyone.
RV I wouldn't back Jan Vermeer with your money mate. If anything is to turn over the jolly then Elusive Pimpernel, who I think may just be taking a bit longer to come to hand than John Dunlop would wish. I think he'll go really well tonight. I would say Famous Name has been well campaigned by his shrewd trainer.
RV, I think all three should be much closer in the market, they all have questions to answer too. The jolly is too short, but he probably would be the percentage call. The trip isn't the best for any of the three too in my opinion, I think the result will depend on how fast they go. If its a real stamina test I can see Jan Vermeer going close, but if they run at a slow pace I think it favours the other two.
I am condom-plating a bit of a trebly or trixe or patent or summat over the weekend: Midday - Pretty Polly Activate - Pitman's Derby Carlton House - Irish Derby The treble is currently paying just over 28/1 with Paddy Power who also go NRNB on all 3 races. Thoughts???
Morning All, RV thanks for the Thread Nap Roman Seal in the 2.20 at Doncaster. Likely type on paper and from an in-form yard with a good strike-rate with 2yos this season.
Oddy, I don't think Activate is ideally drawn and will need a very good ride. Overturn did it from the carpark last season but he was able to get an easy lead and set the pace perfectly. I think its a reasonable bet to be honest
Oh as its Glasto weekend, lets all get in the mood, invite the next doors dog in and let it foul in the lounge. Then it will smell just like Glasto does on the last day.
Well it looks like on the wrong side of the fence. I think Jan Vermeer has the nads to get way with this race. He was clearly too good for Elusive Pimpernel in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes, when they both came from out the back. I don't know just how good Famous Name is, but he wasn't all that impressive in the Tatts Gold Cup, this a massive drop in class though. 8-11 ain't exactly generous, so 3-1 Jan Vermeer looks value. I'm sticking with RV.
i like Montaff e/w in the plate 25/1 won a 2m race at Ripon then ran well in a better race at sandown the last dau think he could run into a place tomorrow
We were lucky enough to have a few guests over the other night playing 5-a-side and among them was jim goldie. He mentioned that botham would win again but alas i forgot to put it on here.Amonng a couple more he mentioned for the coming days were NAWAHJOBO 4.35 DONCASTER,and expects it to cope with its penalty ,no problem. Does anyone know if MWILDCATS posts on here? I often followed his info and fancies on another forum and have much to thank him for. Thanks chippy minton,i will be having a flutter on your fancy also.
He certainly was rainbow view, and i can tell you from experience that he takes no prisoners in a solid tackle!Jim may have huffed and puffed a bit but hes a footballer who uses his head more than his speed, his positional awareness is complimentary.
