Just a quick question guys as i am over partying in florida but i keep hearing how Walcott was a boyhood LFC fan, does anyone know any players we have had where this has worked out really really well for us? I know past everton fans have turned good for us, but a lot of players who turn up saying they were boyhood fans tend to not fare so well particularly if not local themselves (ie Gerrard)
I don't understand why you put that bit...? Are you saying Gerrard isn't a local lad or that he's not been as good as expected...? Of course, if it is either then you deserve a anyway
That's how I read it, too. I was going to mention Bellamy's second visit, but Jimmy beat me to it. I see your Bellamy, Jimmy, and raise you a Sami Hyypia.
Did not know Sami was a fan, in which case maybe Walcott might work. It def looks like he going somewhere as Wenger just is not giving the lad game time. And yes i meant unless with the Gerrard thing, he is obviously a legend and an easy answer, I was thinking more the likes of Kewell who claim to be life long fans and then dont put the effort in. Did Kuyt ever say he had supported us?
We have a large following in Scandinavia, not just, as the joke runs, Norway. Finnish legends Jari and Sami were, like Stevie G, massive childhood LFC fans. Jari even wanted to wear the number 7 shirt of his hero Kenny Dalglish, but Vlad already had bagsied it!
Jimmy Case, Tommy Smith, Cally, Sammy Lee, Chris Lawler all reds all local and all helped us win trophies.
