Played 14 of his 21 England games while at Newcastle too (although how the hell he even got one cap beats me...)
He was a bang average player and is an even worse pundit. Good to see Big Al put him firmly in his place.
He has always appeared to have a 'problem' with his time at NUFC. From the 'goldfish bowl' comments right through to this latest tosh. Just another 90's brat footballer that was not any where near as good as he thought he was. I take him as seriously as i do Bellamy or Dyer.
To be fair to Dyer, he basically took full responsibility for his own **** ups at Newcastle in his recent book - didn't blame anyone else and try and pass the buck like Jenas has
Fed up of hearing him talk. Totally reminiscent of Owen. Wheeled out as a man with insider knowledge on Newcastle despite never having had the balls to ingratiate himself. This seems to manifest itself into disparaging remarks about NUFC (see also Allardici and Souness) Fella's either got an obsession or will happily bend over for his pay-packet. Rarely see him talking about Spurs.
Had his good days but they were few and far between. Struck me as a player who had difficulty dealing with the mental side of the game and this was reflected in a lack of consistency and a tendency to look for scapegoats. Looks like he hasn't changed. I blame Pardew though.
