Hello people. Just thought i'd pop in and share an article I wrote on the new Boss recently. I followed Porto avidly last term, so know quite a bit about them and Villas-Boas. Any feedback / discussion would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Several imprecisions there. Hulk was punished and didn't play several months int he 2009/2010 season. João Moutinho is not a less agile version of Meireles its quite the opposite.

Yeah, Hulk was punished, but he still managed to tally up almost 20 games for the 08/09 season. That's a couple less than this season for Falcao, where Falcao grabbed 16 league goals.

I think both players are 'Agile', but with Raul being more of a workrate player, Moutinho is just behind him, imo... As I say, Moutinho is at his best when he's receiving the ball in the center of the park rather than trying to trawl the pitch to receive it (like Meireles). Although Agile was probably a bad word to emphasise my point. It was a late night writing that one :D

So what are you saying, Moutinho is a more energetic player than Raul? He breaks up more play?

I'm also talking about the Moutinho installed in Villas-Boas' team. :)

Yes he is much more energetic than Meireles. They are in different classes Moutinho doesn't stop the all game and he plays every single game like Lampard did a few years ago when he was injury free.

You comments are really harsh on Meireles, tbh

Absolutely not cause i rate Meireles but Moutinho is everywhere on the field. He's a pitbull with great technique.

A quick stat on Meireles - I'll have to look into Moutinho's workrate stats, but watching him, I wouldn't put him on Raul's level.
