For those of you who like to exercise your brains, the following are all clues for Premier or Football League Clubs. Some are harder or more cryptic than others, some of them are trick questions. You need to know a bit of geography, history, Latin, French, football trivia, nicknames, grounds and general knowledge to get the link.

For example, midweek blue would be Sheffield Wednesday.

Here's 20 to start with. Can you guess who's who? :undecided:

    1. Victoria no longer rules the waves
    2. Bombardment no longer wooly
    3. This book takes the biscuit
    4. Stanley's sweet option
    5. Donald is a fine sweet dog
    6. Doug's old hall
    7. Cygne de le mare
    8. Sulis and Terra linked by mistake
    9. From little acorns do they grow better
    10. Home of the mayflower
    11. Avian misery
    12. Surrounded by hills except to the left
    13. Get fit on syrup
    14. Former Hyde Park dream is easily shattered
    15. Bill and Hil's daughter
    16. Living on the edge
    17. Formerly happy field covered in glass
    18. Sir Henry's cockpit
    19. Ryan’s Street?
    20. Do these birds really come from the Isle of Dogs?

You've got the general idea - so far all but one of the answers are right. In fact they're all technically right but one isn't the answer I'm looking for!

OK so smany mistakenly believe that Plymouth was the home of the Mayflower when it only stopped there after leaving Southampton because the Speedwell was falling apart and would never have made it to the New World.

For No.10 one could always cite Boston Utd, as they are [as well s Plymouth] nicknamed The Pilgrims.

However, the clue being Home of the Mayflower I will throw a spanner in the works by referring to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayflower_steam_tug_1861 which says this particular boat's 'home' was Gloucester - so Gloucester City. It currently resides as a museum ship at Bristol Harbour (Bristol City/Rovers):emoticon-0126-nerd:

There are still 8 out of 20 you haven't got yet. Just a reminder, they are all Premier or Football League (Championship, League 1 or 2). Also, upper and lower case selection is very deliberate and will help you avoid red herrings!

I'm off out but 'll check at about 1030 tonight. <somersault>
