Sam Curran's having a blast at Sri Lanka's expense. He's on 59 with 0 4's and 6 6's! England have gone from 225/9 to 279/9 thanks to him. Pitch is not easy to bat on - sharp turn already so England definitely above par.
Root out for 124. Curran out first ball. England now 301-8. Lead 255 I was about to say how good we were in depth....didn't expect Curran going first ball.
England may regret wasting their reviews...would have prevented Moeen and Rashid going so early. Match suspended due to thunderstorm. 324-9 Lead 278
Apparently took last 3 wickets in little over half an hour. At one point I thought Sri Lanka had a chance....despite the experts saying that England would win....what do they know I thought. More a case of what do I know.
Apparently Jack Leach, the Somerset bowler (just thought I’d mention it) is only the 5th England bowler in history to open the bowling in a Test and take 5 wickets.
There´s always Djokovic v Zverev. That should be a good game, and who knows, perhaps this time the young German challenger can live with the precisión of the Serb´s game.
Delighted for him. I hope he can cement a permanent place in this England team, even in the home series, and eventually go on to emulate and surpass Derek Underwood! (Who? Nobody under-45 would really know about Deadly Derek!!!)
England women playing West Indies in T20s in St Lucia...England already one wicket down in first over, but are already through to the semis. The winner plays Australia; loser plays India.
Good game to watch last night even if England women lost. They set a score of only 116 for a win which the Windies achieved with 2 balls to go. England were let down by a couple of dropped catches....though may have been due to the ball being lost in the lights. Didn't matter as we go through to the semis v India anyway. Terrific crowd and carnival atmosphere.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/46312712 England women beat India by 8 wickets to go into the T20 World Cup Final against Australia (who beat West Indies earlier). Final 00.00 GMT, Sunday
Bairstow out 110 Stokes out 57 England 262-5 Buttler gone. 265-6 Be interesting to see if England can do their usual late rally.
