And Hants are mathematically safe of course and a pretty good season overall, a trophy and safe before the last day!
So Hants finish with a grand total of 16 pitiful batting points for the entire season. At least the top 3 managed to last for 116 balls this time, but only managed 35 runs between them.
I think the pitches are not easy to bat on. Plus a new batch of duke balls were introduced few rounds ago. It's not just Hampshire, it's all over the country. Surrey were skittled out for 67 today for gods sake! I think the new batch of balls are casuing havoc personally. There's too many really low scores for it to be just poor batting.
It's poor, but at least we've won enough games to stay up quite easily. Winning games is more important than bonus points at the end of the day.
I’m inclined to agree. Somerset had a ridiculous match against Yorkshire recently where all 40 wickets fell in less than 2 days, and the match ended tied. I know people moan about the wickets at Taunton, but over 1,000 runs were clocked up in the previous match there against Essex, so it can’t just be down to the pitches there.
Lancashire wasn't it? But tbf, that match was down to the wicket mostly, Somerset got warned a repeat of that and they would be docked points.
Sorry yes, it was Lancs. I forgot about the warning, but preparing a dodgy wicket hasn’t exactly helped them has it?
Well done Lewis, it's not a crucial innings but at least he showed a bit of professionalism and backbone.
Hampshire have signed Keith Barker from Warwickshire which will at least mean he won't take a ****load of Hampshire wickets next season which he often does.
So there is, talk sport with Mark Nicholas. Barney Ronay's comment in the Guardian:- "And so we were off. The opening voice of the TalkSport cricket era was Mark Nicholas, a deeply reassuring presence. Nicholas may resemble the kind of roguishly handsome provincial double-glazing magnate who your wife is always a little too pleased to see at the country club mixed-doubles summer fundraiser but he is a an excellent broadcaster and a proper cricket man, in a sport where that is a good rather than a bad thing."
