I'd suggest that the timing of him announcing that he wants to leave Kent for a D1 team is linked to him missing out on selection for the NZ test squad. Seems on odd time to do it now, otherwise. The batting hardly fired in the Ashes, or throughout last summer for that matter, and Northeast will probably feel that he could have hardly scored any more runs for Kent last year. So to still not get called, moving to a D1 would appear to be pretty essential. Worcs will probably be in D1 for one season only. Somerset I doubt could afford him. Essex, despite being champions, are hardly rich either. Lancs have already signed Jennings (and re-signed Chanderpaul for a further year). Yorkshire are attractive and in need of another batsmen, but are in serious debt. Surrey are the ones though that I'd expect to be at the front of the queue along side us and Notts. Richest club on the circuit, may be missing Stoneman and Roy for large periods throughout the season, and don't have Sangakkara returning.
When Jonathan Woodgate was convicted of affray he got 100 hours community service and from memory that was a rather more unpleasant incident than the Stokes one. It'll be interesting be to see whether Stokes gets a similar sentence.
England 157-4 in second ODI. England need 113 runs from 135 balls. Theoretically England should make it but wickets now falling.
England win by 4 wickets. Teased the Aussies by letting them take a few wickets, then slammed the door.
I suppose so but having seen that video of him in a public place throwing quite a lot of punches in a short space of time (several of them pretty wild swings) it's hard to see him being found not guilty. Could happen I guess.
Not guilty may be unlikely if there is video evidence, but he has pleaded not guilty so presumably he is claiming provocation or claiming it was ABH rather than affray....the latter having the higher punishment. Perhaps he would have pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
Correct....mind wandered because I had turned back to the tennis and saw Edmund take 2nd set. Great performance from both men, but so glad Buttler got his 100. Didn't look like England would set a decent score....must be favourites to win, though to be honest if the results were reversed I would still think England could chase 302. However, the Aussies don't have our batting depth....or is that tempting fate BTW..Kyle 3-0 up in 3rd set.
