    Bale is in demand.
(©GettyImages) Football News 24/7Real Madrid have reportedly made contact with the representatives of Gareth Bale in the hope of completing a deal for the Tottenham winger when the transfer window opens again in July.

According to Spanish newspaper Spanish newspaper El Confidencial, Real Madrid have sounded out Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett and are preparing to approach Tottenham with an offer in the region of £38 million.

The Santiago Bernabeu are reported to be confident they will be able to secure the transfer of Bale, with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez identifying Bale as his No.1 target in an election year.

Bale's recent performances have led to rife speculation that this could be his last season as a Tottenham player, and Real Madrid would appear to be the 23-year-old's most likely destination were he to leave White Hart Lane.

The Wales international has scored 15 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions for Spurs this campaign, with his latest contribution coming in the form of a brace int he 2-1 victory over Newcastle on Saturday.

Bale has scored each of Tottenham's last four goals in the Premier League, with strikes against Norwich and West Brom preceding his double against Alan Pardew's side.

His displays of late have led to comparisons to Cristiano Ronaldo by Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas, and Bale could be set to become a teammate of the former at Real Madrid in July.

£50mill and maybe. I'm just going to wait and see. I'm not going to let myself get angry like I did with Modric. If it happens it happens.

They've been at this **** for months. I genuinely think that we should just refuse to do any business with them from now on. It's like Utd were a while back, running their transfers via the media.

I think Bale will stay with Spurs if we get Champions League football next season.

If not, he'll be off to Real Madrid quicker than you can say £55 million.

considering how much modric cost them i don't see how anyone can think £38m will cut it. He is younger, better and on a longer contract. Also, i hope and don't think he will be going on strike to force a transfer.
I can see Levy asking for £70m and settling for £60m. But can they afford that?

We can't keep Bale just by getting champions league football, as when Bale finishes his career do you honestly think he wants to tell his kids "I had a great career"....kid replies "what did you win?"....."league cup and occasionally played champions league football".

If we want to keep Bale and players of his quality, we have to build a team to challenge for the title, as otherwise he will be gone in a year or two.

Depends what sort of lad he is. I don't know how many trophies Stan Matthews won, or Bobby Charlton, or Matt LeTissier. What about Hoddle? Did he win the league? The champions league? Has everyone forgotten him or how good he was?

Yes, but its rare, Bale doesn't have a natural affinity with our club, when you get players staying around and ignoring the lure of medals, its mainly like the players you mention or Shearer who was a Geordie.

I'm sure Bale loves playing for us, enjoys his football and wants to have a success, but we have to be realistic, if we want to keep players of his quality then we have to show greater ambition to win the top trophies.

Although looking at that list spurm, bobby charlton won a fair few medals, hoddle left in the end, and stanley matthews played in a different era.

Exactly, depends on his personality. He already chose us ahead of Utd so you never know, he might be different. I also recall that he didn't actually want to leave Southampton, but they needed the money.
I won't hold my breath though, but somewhere there have to be some players like that still around. They can't ALL be arseholes

Ok, **** examples other than LeTissier but you get my point. Lets bung Shearer in there. Yeah he won the league once but not a lot else considering his quality

I wouldn't call him an arsehole! if he left, as Bale is ambitious, you can see it and ambitious players want to play in the champions league, cup finals, be part of a title winning squad, its natural for top players to want this so I expect Bale to leave if we're happy to just finish 3rd/4th and occasionally have a good cup run.

Ronaldo had had three outstanding seasons in the PL, scoring around 100 goals, before he left- of his own accord- for Real Madrid. There are so many different considerations with Bale. He is a great player on form, but he hasn't produced that form consistently enough over a season for any team to merit any team speculating £50-60M on him and expecting him to reach Ronaldo's heights in a foreign league. If Bale has any sense- and I'm sure he does and will be well advised too- he'll stay at Spurs for another two seasons at least before deciding his future beyond Spurs.

If he goes he goes...and we'll get a **** load of money and will continue to be around 4th or 5th just like we have after losing Carrick; Berbatov; Keane; Modric; VDV.
If Bale wants to stay and be part of building something he'll stay at least 1 or 2 more years ... I want him to stay but hand on heart I think he's history come June regardless of where we finish in the league

I'm not calling him an arsehole. Players who refuse to play and try to force moves are arseholes

On the original topic: Spurs lose: headline=AVB out. Spurs win: headline=Bale to Real. Spurs draw: AVB out & Bale to Real.

It's all idle speculation I can't be bothered with. Last year I was genuinely concerned about losing Modric to Real. Result=net improvement for team (IMO, Vertonghen + Dembele + Lloris > Modric), and Modric picks up splinters at Real.

The article is so obviously made up, not one direct quote and has almost certainly been written to stir up speculation. It may even be Madrid getting in some tapping up and head turning early..... its the way they do their business, through the media.

Bale has plenty of time, he is only 23, I wouldnt begrudge him a move eventually but he could easily give us 2 or 3 more years before moving on when at his peak. Bale is enjoying his football with Spurs, time will tell whether the lure of £££££ changes his attitude.
