One man's view. Trying to keep smiling: http://thisismyengland.blogspot.com/2011/10/going-down-by-riverside.html
Nice little summary there TIME. Less is so often more. So Fulham ARE a boutique club then. Difference between them and Briatore's vision for us is that Fulham invested in prem players (and before they got promoted) and we were expected to make do with scraps. The bubble that formed around our last minute intake was a thin one and therefore always susceptible to bursting with the slightest dent. It brings to mind the story of Challenger doesn't it? The warning signs there before the massive injection of fuel... the bang and whoosh that lifts us into the stratosphere alright - and break up and disaster as something gives under pressure just as it looks like we've gone clear. The space shuttle programme learned it's lesson. More respect and attention to detail. Better planning to prevent piss poor performance. Adversity adds much to a winning mindset... We'll soon see what it's done for us. '6-0 and we don't give a **** We're QPR and we're staying up...' Them fans did us proud. I love it!
I was stood just to the left of you, judging by that photo. Good piece about a nice day out, shame about the game!
I must say I didn't see the warning signs you talk about Brixton. I was pretty impressed by all the performances since the influx of new talent even if we didn't get the results we deserved. The Fulham result came completely out of left field for me.
I was in Row SS, Seat 69 - a few seats in from an aisle and just up from an entrance. I got a ticking off from a very friendly copper during the first half for being too shouty. Perhaps you saw that non-incident.
Yeah I was in the row behind and a bit to your left, I did see the old bill, but tried to ignore them and concentrate on our whupping!
Was it really seven years ago that we lost 6-1 to Leeds? Christ thats flown. We were on the booze with some leeds mates and missed the effing train - at least it didnt cost me another 60 quid to get home this weekend. Good blog btw
I was in p2 row z, I had a great view of Danny Murphys missus who was sitting in the cottage. Very nice, quite a good distraction from that awful game really.
Thanks - that day against Leeds, we went for an evening meal (quite good) then returned to the car to find the multi-storey was locked up! VERY unclear sign about the opening hours. A trap for out-of-towners. Cost us £50 to get the car out.
