We know both Henderson and Sterling have shelved contract talks until the Summer. We know Liverpool have had a shocker of a season. Well judging by yesterday it looks as if at least half the team have given up the Rodgers ghost. Sterling claims money isnt his motive and Henderson has stayed quiet. I personally feel both are waiting to see what happens in the Summer with Brendan. I wouldnt speculate on wheter they are Brendan allies or foes but i reckon they want to know whos boss before they commit. Take Henderson , signs now as captain and Brendan gets booted. New man comes in takes the captaincy from him and makes him a bit part squad player as the new guys signings are flavour of the month. Its the only reason i can see for the delays if you believe the players claims its not about money.
I'd not worry... neither are all that. henderson isn't a leader he's a worker. can is more of an organiser than henderson ever will be. henderson just needs to be put in a slot and made run all day. sterling is just no end product.
I agree mito but my point really is do they know something is up and are stalling to see who will be in charge and if theyll be a part of that.
Raheem Sterling wants to win things. If he's not performing how can he win things. His performance yesterday is below standard.
By joining a side where other better players perform and he is carried on the pitch or sits on the bench
Henderson will definitely sign, he'll never play at a bigger club than Liverpool, and certainly not as Captain. Sterling has had his head turned, there's no doubt about it. Some top end club has been whispering in his agents ear and the lad is obviously up for the move. Whether whoever it was will be quite as keen following his recent awful form remains to be seen.
I see it slightly different, I think his agent has been whispering to some top end club (Arsenal) about Sterling being available, then gone and turned Sterlings head with the possibility with the idea of bigger wages and Silverware.
Henderson could easily get to play for city. He'd never play for cheslea though. for example.... I reckon he's a guy we'd want one more deal with and sell on before he is 28 cos he's not going to have a long carer into his 30s at the top. I've always defended him when lads knocked him but equally he is technically weaker than many. his best attributes is energy and work rate. busy players like this need a lot of luck to go deep in a career but strachen and houghton might be good examples but fro a long time ago when the game was not this fast or this professional. Sterling will go and i am looking forward to it cos he'll implode cos he just misses to many by far. however if a low bid comes in the club must nail the guy to the wall if he opens his mouth just like suarez. this kid is not vital IMO so if he wants to mouth he better be sure that Henry has already shown exactly what they get.
I'd rather say that its more likely any agent is seeing with 2 years left all the power is in sterlings hands and while he's on ****e all compared to rooney he can push this to the limit cos 35k per week will buy him enough pipes and hookers he needs for now. having so much money now at 18 means the guy doens't give a crap and can wait out his contract. thus he must be marginalised. IMO LFC should have dropped him in january and he should be right now worried about his england career and 2016. due to TERRIBLE transfers and sturrdige glass legs we have not. I'd make him bench warm
I agree and am worried about him being captain, I just don't think he's the man but then again I think Lucas should be captain and a lot of people wont agree.
Henderson really isn't that big of a loss - he can be easily replaced, and far cheaper than the reported £80k-100k he wants. I think Sterling is under appreciated at this club. I think he's in similar position to Suarez before Coutinho and Sturridge came to the club, where Suarez was expected to create and score, and practically do anything. Sterling is a top talent. At his age, his stats are comparable to Messi, Ronaldo, Depay etc. He will get pelters for not scoring many goals, but fact is, he's not a natural striker . The sad situation is that we're now in a position where he is one of our best players so he's in a position to command such wages.
Some may say it's not difficult to be one of our best players when the competition isn't up to much. He's a talented youngster who will get better, however imo he will never be a £50 million man (not even close) so if some idiot wants to pay that then we should jump at the chance.
I think it's win win. Either we keep him, and we keep a good player who can play alongside the best in the world. Or we sell him for £40-50m and bring in 2-3 quality first teamers.
Agreed I'm happy if he stays and happy if he goes for big money. Either way we need quality around him.
I just hope we can bring in quality to replace him. Depay, Firmino, Shaqiri, Griezemann - these were players we could have targeted last season who would have cost less than Lallana.
I don't think the two situations are linked. Sterling wants to go back to London. That's not the issue for Hendo.
If you're not worried then you obviously haven't been paying attention to our transfers over the last 3 years. We'll end up with Lee Cattermole replacing Henderson & Callum McManaman replacing Sterling.
well in fairness it was way too late for griezemann and sahqiri turned us down it is said.. you can alld christen eriksen to that list.
