<doh> is this the Bristol City site?

Sorry remote, but with the new season looming up in little over a week, the last thing we need on here is a Wurzel clone thread.....<laugh>

Happy for you to delete it, just thought it provided insight.

Dont think we'd descend to a Wurzel type thead anyway.

After getting the bulk of our signings in weeks ago, not much else to talk about.

In my experience, providing insight tends to be the thin end of the wedge - we'll probably have Ashton Red over here now.......<laugh>

Incidentally, wouldn't dream of deleting anything on here unless against board rules - unlike some other forums.....<whistle>

As I tried to explain on the Boris thread, I'm nowhere being close to knowing my own political leanings. What we are seeing in the Tory leadership battle could easily be replicated by the main opposition parties - we just don't know for certain.
Unfortunately, what the current fight for the top job is showing is that many politicians are easily drawn into a blame game against people and policies they once vigorously defended; are prepared to get into mud slinging with their own and to abandon their own principles in order to promote themselves.
Like I said, it may not just be the Tories but there is now a tangible ethos in which people just want the title and not the responsibility.
Doesn't help floating, open minded voters and as remote has suggested, it's hardly tactically astute in terms of a team performance.

On the first point, when campaigners knock on the door I ask them to tell me something positive about their party, not something negative about the oposition. Usually they cant.

On the second, they are often happy to be responsible, but definitely dont want to be held accountable.

Boris is happy to host guests at chequers, press the flesh in Ukraine and joy ride in fighter jets, but ask him to say I got the NI protocol wrong, correct the record on employment or admit that he's led the country into the highest tax burden for 40 years and highest inflation for 20 and the teflon epolettes come out. Yeah but, no but, it was them not me.<doh>

Difficult to argue with any of that and as such, it's a sad indictment of a group of people on whom the public have to trust with their lives.

I feel embarrassed for people coming out of the woodwork saying I told you so.

The option at the time was Boris or Corbyn - not a great choice but a no brainer of a decision.

    And the alternative was?

    Communist, anti-semetic Corbyn.

Poor choices I know but regrettably Boris was the better of a poor option.

Probably my lack of ability to make a decision but I found a decision far from being a no brainer.
The issues with Corbyn were well documented but then I looked at how Boris got to be in the running in the first place, his track record in previous jobs and his own propensity to make disparaging remarks against other cultures and women. So a difficult choice turned into an impossible one. I felt and continue to feel cheated by the whole process. So I didn't vote for either

It might be more interesting and a solid test if they were asked to say something positive about their opposition and something negative about their own!!!

Our Jem would have been a much better deputy than leader......a permanent conscience/thorn in the side. But he has much more integrity and brain than Blojo!!! I was at uni with Jems bro Piers. Not at all close to him but he was big in SocSoc!!! Now there's a crackpot.....and he's still at it.

Wouldn't argue about more brain than Boris but still a total arse. I find them both equally objectionable in their own ways. Other than Corbyn makes my skin crawl. Lower than a snake's belly.

Not sure why Old Sparkey should be able to remove any thread TBH, this topic is interesting, enlightening and subjective! :emoticon-0103-cool:
