Dont know whether I am a bit late posting this as it may have been done before (appologies if it hs), but i have noticed this with regard to UEFA's disipline record this tournament. Take a look at these-:

Germany fined £10000 for throwing missiles on the pitch.
Croatia fined £20000 for throwing flares on to the pitch.
Croatia Fined £65000 for racist abuse of italian players and throwing bananas on to the pitch.

Nicolas Bednter fined £80000 and banned for 1 game for showing his pants with advertising on it.

Come on Uefa lets get this right. How do you ever hope to eradicate the racism at these tournaments when you deal with it in the way you are. I know they dont want to admit it is happening but they have to get real with their fines.

    Comments please.

When you have idiots like Blatter and Platini involved that's the way it is,for years and years those 2 nobs have been denying the use of goalmouth technology until a British team gets away with it, and now its the most important thing on the agenda

Bongo I was going to add that to the bottom of my post. When Germany scored against England Blatter said there was no need for it. Now England have benefited from an error. (although the lines man should have flagged for offside) The both are saying that it is now not a question of whether its just a question of when. Clowns the lot of them.

The sooner the big federations break away and start their own the sooner these tournaments will be played in Countries where they should be and not who has paid out the most in Br**s.

Don't think it's been discussed here but it should be. I believe Rio Ferdinand and Vincent Kompany have already let it be known that it also puts into perspective UEFA and FIFA's views on racism. Obviously, Bentdner's antics are much more serious. <doh>

It's a farce isn't it? Given the amounts of money involved in football these fines are so inconsequential I feel it must be policy to, as you say, downplay the whole "racism thing". Either that, or they really don't get how big a problem it is...?

I see on SSN that Croatia are now being dealt with for a 3rd time, this for racist banners and chanting and throwing missiles on to the pitch during the spain game.

If the team was banned for the next tournament that might a stop to it as the decent fans would turn on the troublemakers. Only way to solve it imo.

It is a disgrace and it's plainly obvious that racism is okay according to UEFA and FIFA as they don't deal with it. I agree that nations who have these problems be deducted points in competitions. A ban is to much as how will they determine if the problem has been remedied if the national team doesn't play ?

...by monitoring the situation the next time they play?

More evidence of FIFA's mindset: Blatter has been dead set against goal line technology. Didn't bat an eyelid when England were denied a goal a while back (Lampard) but after last night it's a "necessity" all of a sudden.

    ****ers the lot of 'em.

That's what it's going to take. The big national associations need to think long and hard about setting up their own governing bodies and consigning FIFA/UEFA to the margins. The smaller ones will gravitate towards them eventually.

On the subject of goal line tech, why are they wasting time on computer systems when they could just follow rugby and use a video ref. In the England match the game could have paused, the video ref decided and the game restarted well within a minute. For those that aren't a goal they can continue play with a drop ball on the corner of the area or something. Can't fathom it myself.

As for FIFA and UEFA, they seriously need to get their house in order. Corruption is rife but it's unsurprising given the governments of a number of countries.
