Much like this year, I can't imagine I will get involved until the week itself. Only one I'm remotely tempted by is CALL THE COPS 33/1 for the World Hurdle. However, as we only have 360 days left I thought it wise to start a thread
I don't bet ante post, but il have a look just for fun, and see what I'd back if I was forced to get involved now. With Sizing Europe retiring, I think Sizing John has the potential to be a useful 2 mile chaser for Henry De Bromhead, so I'd go for him in the Arkle at 20/1. He looks like a big chasing type, so I could see him improving a lot once he starts chasing.
The prices being offered are a joke - Coneygree best-priced 8/1 for the Gold Cup with 2 ahead of him in the market. Ridiculous - I backed him at 8/1 on the day last Friday. I will NEVER bet ante post on the festival again - truly a mugs game.
It's swings and roundabouts and I'd have agreed 100% with you until this year. Depends what you backed doesn't it, backing Mullins superstars all winter certainty ensured my Festival was profitable If I'd a waited to the day, not quite so!
FO Drever! Never again for me until it's NRNB. Fair enough if you know or can successfully predict where Mullins is going to place his horses but I'm hopeless at that. The only fookin one of Willies I backed before the day got beat up in his stable on the day of the fookin race by his stablemate. Bollox to that.
Suprised that no one has tipped West Wizard for the 2016 Supreme Novices’! Surely, he’ll win it one year! I can’t believe some horses are being quoted at odds like 6/4 (twice) and 7/4 re next term. Cor blimey, given the fragility of the breed and the brutal nature of the NH game it’s far bigger than that that they will even turn up!
Looking at the Gold Cup Vautour 11/2 Don Poli 6/1 Coneygree 8/1 Djakadam 14/1 Hopefully at least one of those will turn up and the winner will come from that 4 I think Therefore £200 Vautour returns £1300 £200 Don Poli returns £1400 £150 Coneygree returns £1350 £100 Djakadam returns £1500 So that's £1300 to £650 = Evs one of them winning. I'll risk it. If one ends up odds on on the day I might lay it off. PS not real money
I can't see Mullins putting 3 of them all in the Gold Cup when he knows they are capable of winning any other race he choses to send them can you?
Well Nicholls used to run them all. It's the Gold Cup after all, a race Mullins has never won, so having 3 chances is better than 1
It's not how he operates usually though. But the only thing here is that Don Poli is Giggy owned and Mick O ' leary will want him in the Gold Cup so that's him in. It's now dependant on whether they send Djakadam and Vautour there which is conceivable I guess.
The only one that might not be aimed at the CGC is Vautour but I suspect he will as Rich Ricci will surely want to win it and Vautour is his best chance
The only race suitable for Don Poli is the Gold Cup, as his strength is stamina. I don't see why Djakadam won't run either after finishing runner up as a 6 year old. So that just leaves Vautour who is a potential doubt. I think they'll test out Vautours stamina in other G1s throughout the winter over 3 miles and if he's succesful then he has to take his chance. I can't see the owners allowing Mullins to run him in the Ryanair if he proves he stays 3m+ I myself still have my doubts as to weather he'll stay, he just looks to have to much natural speed to be a certain stayer.
QMCC - Un De Sceaux Ryanair - Vautour CGC - Djakadam & Don Poli That's how I see the cookie crumbling IF they all go to Cheltenham fit and well. For what its worth I think Vautour over two and a half miles on goodish ground is an absolute monster and I'd be planning something like the Ryanair and Melling Chase double with him.
Oddy my man un de sceaux cant run in zee arkle again so will be queen mumsy bound no doubt.pricewise put up uzxizandre for qm next year at 33s
