There seem to be differing opinions on Taylor and his worth to the team right now ... he has been showing glimpses of what he brings to the team, but on a whole his performances have been below where he was last season my feeling is that he is not committing one hundred percent anymore, and I can only think that he is probably looking at the January window already ... this means he will have the fear of injury in the back of his mind, and he will want to stay healthy to get his big money transfer in January if his agent can force Leeds into an early sale it is disappointing to see Taylor playing off the pace right now, but it was always going to happen because his priority has now become himself and his fitness ... he won't want to jeapordise a transfer because he's injured, so he's starting to hide more and more, and he's definitely not putting in the full blooded performances we've seen from him in the past Taylor will be leaving Leeds, be it in January or at the end of the season, and the problem now is how to change his mentality from self preservation to total commitment ... last piece of the jigsaw for me, and it may well be that Denton gets a run to wake Taylor up, because sitting on the bench won't help his prospects, and it will limit the number of clubs making him an offer, something his agent will want to avoid at all costs ... be interesting to see how Monk approaches this, because he must know that Taylor isn't playing flat out right now Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Billy you could be right mate, but also he's young and the kids are up and down a bit usually. he may also think that 'eh this club seems to be moving up for a change, Monk is a good guy and he is doing the best for me, the squad is gelling and just maybe I will be better off here'. I know may be well off the mark but I live in hope.
On one level, I still think he's committed to Leeds. I also think he can see the side are making progress, and maybe he wants to be part of that. However, one move yesterday shows he's not quite as good as he thinks he may be. There was a moment when he was all set to deliver a telling right footed cross, but chose instead to go back onto his left foot & ended up losing the ball. If he thinks he's on for a big money move to a top club, he needs to show a lot more.
That's the old expectation thing, isn't it? When unknown or young or whatever, expectation level is low & therefore it's easy to impress. Once you start impressing, the expectation level rises, so even if you're doing better than the previous season, you may still be perceived as being worse than the previous season. Not sure if this is the case with Taylor, but may have a part to play.
