Tommy Rowe, Craig Alcock, Danny Kearns, Nat Knight-Percival and Peter Grant are all out of contract and have left the club. Loanees Josh McQuoid, Ben Nugent and Lloyd Isgrove have all returned to their respective parent clubs. It has been reported that Posh will be attempting to sign Lloyd Isgrove on a permanent basis (or perhaps a season-long loan) for the new campaign. Bobby Olejnik, Joe Day, Nat Mendez-Laing, Shaun Brisley and Kane Ferdinand have all been placed on the transfer list as, in line with club policy, they are entering the last year of their contract. Darragh has stated too many players were allowed to stay and run down their contracts and leave on a free this season in the hope we would get promoted after the strong finish to the season in the Championship - that situation will not be allowed to arise again. Mark Little and Danny Swanson are also out of contract but are being offered new terms. Retained players include: Ntlhe, Baldwin, Bostwick, Santos, Conlon, McCann, Payne, Anderson, Newell, Washington, Assombalonga (I'm sure he will move up at least to the Championship), Vassell, The squad will be bolstered by new, incoming players and further additions from a very good youth team. There will also be changes in the coaching and management staff (though Darren Ferguson looks likely to remain). Darragh wants a return to the 'young, hungry' footballing ethos with exciting, attacking football being played as in the days of the 'Trinity' - to quote the Chairman "too many players have failed to turn up on the big occasion" during the season just ended. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oejVfLNqTE8&feature=youtu.be
Would you be in interested in a season long loan for Assombalonga with an option to buy to us, especially if we sweetened the deal by lending you another Joe Lewis?
No deal Resurgam - whilst a good keeper will prevent a loss it is strikers that win matches. Look on the bright side, you get to tank the Tractor Boys twice next season. (If we can manage to put 7 past them I'm sure the Canaries can go one better)
Saw this on facebook opp. Have you heard anything like this? POSH TRANSFER NEWS: The chairman has said that posh have recieved a £2M bid for an unknown Peterborough united player. Some believe that it was hitman Britt Assombalonga but many are reporting that it was for young CB Jack Baldwin! Jack only joined posh in January from league two gartelpool for £500k...
The chairman has said that posh have recieved a £2M bid for an unknown Peterborough united player. You would have thought they would have told Darragh who they want
....and there's more.... OTHER TRANSFER NEWS: Rumours are that Posh are interested in taking Nathan AKE on loan for the season from premier league chelsea. Apparently Northampton (League 2) are looking to take Kane Ferdinand back but on a perminant basis. Fergie has said that he is interested in taking Lloyd Isgrove back to London road for next season on a Loan deal basis. Other reports suggest that the posh are looking to sign Luke Freeman of league two stevenage & Taylor from league two shrewsbury. Craig Alcock has already Agreed to join a new club but the club are not willing to say who that club is yet.
A lot of rumours flying about as usual. Isgrove is a possibility, Freeman was a target some time ago so not impossible that we may reawaken that interest
I hope Ake stays away from us. Keep Baldwin and Santos as a young partnership and let them grow with the experience or Payne/Bostwick to help them out in CDM.
You make a very valid point TTB. Even though he played out of position at RB I was quite impressed with young Santos
Saw this on facebook. What do you Poshies think? please log in to view this image Some rather unlikely but possible targets for posh this summer. These are not my opinions but those who have messaged/commented to our page. All 4 are out of contract this summer & will not be renewing there contracts with their current contracts.
Apart from Lee the wage demands of the others mentioned above would scupper any deal, let alone their age not fitting into the 'young and hungry' ethos espoused by Darragh. Posh deny rumours of any interest in highly-rated Bristol Rovers Right Back Michael Smith. 'Britt Assombalonga is not for sale' is the cry from London Road (unless someone offers 'silly money' in excess of £5 million). Posh are on the look out for creative Midfielders to help Britt and his fellow strikers score more goals. Bobby Olejnik has scuppered talks of a new contract by asking for a wage rise. Posh have to keep within the Financial Fair Play regulations (we were exempt last season due to relegation). Having failed to achieve promotion there will be no rises for any players, with the squad numbers being trimmed to free up wages for incoming players.
I've just watched the full match of Blackpool v Posh from 2004 on YouTube, Posh won the game 4 - 1, many of our players in that game are/were quite decent League 1/2 standard, but we were really quite a crap team, I'm sure EasyJet or RyanAir would have made ideal match ball sponsors. As critical as I have been of many of our performances this season, we are still streets ahead of the dire days with Barry Fry as Manager.
