I don't know how many on here still keep an eye on the Championship, but for me it remains the most competitive and interesting league in Britain. There will be some big money gambled against FFP in January by the likes of QPR, Leicester and Forest. Burnley are miraculously clinging on to top spot and Derby are 4th. Leeds are doing better under McDermott, but whether they or Watford can break into the top 6 is debatable. While at the bottom it's looking ominous for Wednesday and the Tykes. From a City perspective (if we stay up) I hope Burnley, Derby and Blackpool get promoted out of the main contenders as they will probably struggle more than some of the wealthier clubs and they will also find it hard to compete with us for potential signings.
It'll be providing some of our opponents for next season so you might like to keep an eye on who those opponents could be.
Because you enjoy watching football? It is the most compelling league from a competitive point of view.
I think its interesting because usually there's very little between top and bottom, in that as we saw ourselves, being top doesn't mean you'll beat bottom opposition, it just felt more competitive. The prizes for winning it are huge (going up) and the losses I imagine are awful if you go down. I do miss the standard of refereeing though, not sure if its fading memories but I was sure it was better in the Championship. Not sure who I want to go up, sure as **** isn't Burnley though, or Blackpool. Derby yes, others, not sure.
They were just as ****, just in a different way. In the Championship barring a few complete bellends (which might even have been PL refs having a weekend off) the mistakes were pretty even handed. In the PL the refs can be much more "look at me" about the way they do things, and you can guarantee if it's the last 10 minutes the scores are level and there's a 50/50 penalty shout that the big club will get it 90% of the time and the small club will only get it once in a blue moon.
Yeah you could be right there, I just don't remember feeling as annoyed after games back then due purely to ****ty reffing. Could just be my age...
You must be the most boring person in existence. Read a book or something. Or you know. Learn to read first. Then write. Then, if there's time, take in a bit of the wider world.
I wish I could be as cool and hip as you. South Park avatars, quotes from the hipsters hero Karl Pilkington, you really are brilliant! (i especially like the way you've used an obscure south park character, makes it even more cool)
We're not going to be spending loads. We'll probably bring in SE-B and a winger on loan. Having said that we're looking into the signing of italian striker, Kris Mastri. He'll help us out over the festive period with the injury to Wood. Apparently there is a claus where we can sign him for a small fee in jan
I do enjoy the championship but since the FLS starts at midnight, i've not seen it since last season, see the occasional match highlights on sky sports news or the like though and any champ games that are on at saturday lunch time i said watford wouldn't finish automatic and i was blasted for it listen to brady's bunch, always right that one
Will Leicester be fined for breaching FFP if you don't go up? Also how do you think your owners would react if you fail given that the spending of any teams that get fined this season will probably be closely monitored next season?
No teams are getting fined for this season. If a team doesn't get promoted then they don't get fined, they get transfer embargos and potentially points penalties. (can't see the latter in the first season)
