Different to the transfer rumours thread. Who would you like to see in and how many? I think we need 3 in. Definitely take a punt on a lower league forward. An experienced hold up player and a marquee signing. All depends on the money we're willing to spend like. One for Sterling. I saw a forward for Chile a few months back. A real big beast. Cant remember his name. I had a look at the time and he plays in Europe but not at a really big club. Can you refresh my memory? Troy Deeney please for starters. Is there anyone in the 3 relegated teams you'd have up front? Cameron Jerome? I'd be ok with him as one of the three.
Jerome looked dreadful for Norwich over the season. I doubt Newcastle will sell any strikers, but I'd have a look at Wijnaldum to play wide left. He can be frustrating but he looks quick and has a certain something.
He'd cost well over £10m and he's apparently on £85k a week, so I don't plan to hold my breath, though there's possibly a loan if the new manager doesn't fancy him.
Thought he looked ok when i saw him. Opinions eh. Hold up player for Abel, with Remy to come on as a sub...
Remy would be an incredible signing, and I actually think that he and Abel would play well together. I'd splash out on him if he was an option.
I'm not sure we'd get 3 in Chazz, unless one is a young punt (that wasn't an autocorrect!) Remy would be great, but I doubt we'll get him I suppose at lot depends on the sale of course, if we are sold then marquee signings are more likely but if we aren't sold its more likely we'll buy an old duffer whose shirt looks like a marquee!
Can't help thinking we're aiming a little low with some of the suggestions so far (Remy apart!). We know from experience that even when we bring a good quality striker in, Abel, from outside the Premier League they will take best part of a season to settle in - OK there will always be exceptions - and we are not the only club to discover this. Looking at this from the perspective that (we already have the basis of a Premier League squad by most accounts) we'll need to spend around £15 million on a good central defender, midfield enforcer and another creative midfielder (plus around £5 million wages), I'd splash the cash on one top striker and take a gamble on a youngster to gain some PL experience next season. This won't be cheap but £10-15 million (plus £3 million/year wages) for a proven striker should assure us of survival and would bring the overall cost to around £35-38 million for next season. In terms of PL spend, even for a lower third club, would not be outrageous and should enable us to access the ongoing PL revenues for at least a few years. Of course, there are no guarantees but given the massive increase in revenues we'll be accessing, I think it would make a sound investment.
It'll either be Angelo Henriquez (who used to play for United and would be a very good signing) or Junior Fernandes, who is 6ft odd but has a less than average goal scoring record (he doesn't have any goals for Chile) but he is a target man. Both play for Dinamo Zagreb. Will Grigg would be my choice for a lower league forward, if not then Britt Assombalonga (just had a bad injury but came straight back into the side and scored on his return). A marquee signing? Vincent Janssen from AZ Alkmaar.
Janssen will go to a big team like Dortmund or Liverpool. I am intrigued as to who we will bring in, honestly have no idea but had barely heard of Hernandez before we signed him so maybe somebody like that
Neither. Just rooted around and its Pinilla. 32 so a bit too old. Caught in bed with the captains wife. I like his style.
Pretty sure he played for Hearts in the SPL during the Romanov years and wasn't very good. Maybe he got better since then.
Anyone remember this guy? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felipe_Caicedo He'd be my main striker signing , along With assembolonga as sterling mentioned I think those three would score goals between them as long as we sign some creativity too
