Despite the abundance of options we have in the deep central midfield with Frank, Mikel, Essien, Ramires and even Luiz, Oscar and De Bruyne able to drop in there and play. We still lack that important player.

Don't get me wrong, Lampard is a fantastic passer and goalscorer, Ramires has an engine like no other, Mikel can break up attacks and Essien has a steely bite to his tackle, but what we really need is not a two players in the central midfield that have sole strengths, but someone who has all these strengths.

We need an energetic, strong presence midfielder, who can tackle hard and fair, pass well and accurately and chip in with a few goals to boot. As Bayern Munich have proved when they signed Javi Martinez to help them step onto the next level.

For me there is no one better at this than Arturo Vidal, and if not him then their are other options in Ilkay Gundogan, Daniele De Rossi and Marek Hamsik, players who dictate play and get a few goals as well.

Mainly though, I feel a dictator is what we need, and that is an area where someone like Luka Modric could benefit us.

Vidal, Gundogan, De Rossi, Hamsik, Modric, whoever, but I feel we need someone, an all round midfield player to take us to an unbeatable level at home, but a very realistic challenge in Europe whoever we play.

    Agree <ok>

Shoot me down for this as well but i'd tell you who would be a very good buy ( Although i'm not sure they'd sell him ) but Pogba from Juventus, Uniteds old youth player. He has looked outstanding since he joined Juventus and reminds me of a younger Essien and is still so young and will become a very very good player.

I think van Ginkel has the potential but right now I think Oscar is the player for the role. Actually having written that I think the 2 of them could be the central partnership.

Willian can then play the centre of the front 3 with any combination on either side, Hazard,Mata,KVB,Schurrle.

And please Jose, give Lukaku a start.

Been saying exactly this for 2 years now. We keep buying great front players, but no one to run the show. Hope one of the Van Ginkel/willian/De Bruyne is that player, but all a bit small and inexperienced yet. Hard to stay patient and see how they go, hope Frank and Ramires get a rest next game, and we see other options. We already know what they can do.
