I thought it was funny when I read this yesterday

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14961331.stm

the celtic daily record had done their usual pre old firm piece against rangers and their supporters and it was the celtic fans who pretended to be offended by it.
they complained to celtic fc who immediately saw a propoganda opportunity in it and banned all celtic daily record reporters.
this will be used to prove to the rest of the world that they are really the victims here.

It's just all a bit much in a country where it's now against the law to be a rangers fan.

it will probably turn out like the last time celtic pretended the press were against them, when we had all the daily record/sunday mail reporters proving they were at a daughter's/ grandaughter's holy communion or they were at a family wedding in the local catholic church, anything to prove to the brain dead that they really were all celtic fans.

looks like we're in for yet another season long sectarian campagn by celtic fc.

A Celtic statement called the story "inflammatory and offensive"

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Aye and Liewell having a laugh at the Jelavic bid was the height of dignity. What a bitter bitter club Celtic are.

I actually agree with the rheptiles on this. The headline was way out of order, it painted Rangers fans in a bad light and sent out the wrong message ahead of a massive game. We should be building up this match as a showdown between the top two teams in the country, not dragging it down with references to hatred. Sadly, the media in Scotland thrive on negative press, they must have hated the tremendous match ups during the mid 90's with a passion. Back then we had end to end battles with genuine skill on display, you could sing what you wanted, everyone would get the anger out their system during the match and both sets of supporters would be dignified afterwards whatever the result.

The media are so desperate for us to be bitter hate filled knuckledraggers who like nothing more than to beat each other up and call each other offensive names. Wankers that they are. We should do the same, I'd love to see the Daily Record go under.

For most Celtic and Rangers fans its nothing more than rivalry but this painted the feelings against Lennon as something far more sinister. The arseholes in each support use this tripe to justify some of their actions, they see things like this and assume most folks brains are as damaged as theirs.

It hardy does much for your club either, its pandering to the arseholes.

    Spot on Frank <ok>

They should concentrate on the football not off the field issues, might make the world remember this game for the football and atmosphere not the 0.0001% of both our fans who are nuggets who take it too far

While I agree that the headlines should be all about football, my point was that the Record regularly has a dig at Rangers and their fans (and sometimes match officials) before every old firm game.
They simply did the same as usual here but because they mentioned NL's name in the headline, Celtic fans immediately thought THEY were the target.
Celtic FC were only too happy to join in the pretend persecution mania.

At least maybe from now on the Record will concentrate on the football and not use every old firm game as an excuse to have a dig at Rangers and their supporters.
Then again the record now have to prove beyond doubt to Celtic FC that they are still on Celtic's side so maybe the Rangers bashing will get even worse in future.

<ok> This ... anybody who doesn't see the Record for what it is is a ****in clown!

They want Celtic n Rangers fans to disgrace themselves so they can be morally offended...even after publishing articles that will wind up the yahoos (on both sides).

    Gutter press!

live in the south of england so stopped buying it years ago but sometimes check out news online before OF matches.
couldn't believe how far the record had swung over to the celtic side.

at least when I lived in scotland the paper at least pretended to be neutral.
