Di Canio - what a difference he would make to the bunch of cowards we have in our dressing room at the moment!! I go and see Swindon at least six times a season as a good mate is a season ticket holder at the County Ground. Let me tell you, this season their transformation has been nothing short of unbelievable!! This team plays at a high tempo, and they PASS the ball around as much as their technical ability allows them. They play with two wide men and their full backs are encouraged to bomb up the line and get crosses in. I honestly cannot believe how he has got these players flying like they are. Last season this lot were woeful, and I mean really bad. We did not expect to see this kind of turnaround. Their midfield plays really good stuff, and they graft. If they had two quality strikers they would be walking League Two by at least fifteen points. The only reason they aren't clear now in fact is because they had a slow start as the players adjusted to what Di Canio wanted from them. I also like the fact that he doesn't take **** from his players, example is the Leon Clarke bust up (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8U-JZA2FBo) when the player, unfit after injury and having just played poorly refused a run from the fitness trainer and Di Canio basically thumped him in the tunnel and then loaned him out. Love it!! All I can say having seen his work first hand is that he has transformed the County Ground, the atmosphere is electric, there is belief and expectation and the team plays attractive, attacking football. He has got his players really fit and they run for ninety minutes. Last night they destroyed Crawley, the Man City of League Two, hammering their promotion rivals 3-0 easy as. Now understand this, Crawley are hard to beat and have spent loads on their squad. I have my ticket to go and see Swindon at Wembley in the JPT Final simply because I want to see these boys play on a big old pitch. Should be fun. Can Di Canio do it at a higher level? On what I've seen, yes. Better quality players will only benefit his tactics and style of play. I mean, if he can get proper League Two footballers to raise their standard this much and play a style of football this division simply isn't used to, imagine what he could do with better players. He kept with his system and style even when they were losing early in the season, didn't panic and change to hoofball and slowly but surely his players understood what he wanted and bought into it. I'll be very surprised if they don't go up. For me Di Canio would be great for Leeds, but the timing isn't right plus of course imagine how long it would take before he belted Papa Smurf one in the chops!! That fight alone would make him a legend at Elland Road.
Good shout, if he would come, let him use the rest of this season to get his style of play over and hit the ground running next season. We are only in the championship he can get his experience here.
