I have just returned from a short holiday in Cornwall, made even shorter but people insisting on dragging large white platic boxes about behind cars.

A message to Her Britannic Majesty's government ban caravans now!

Will you support me or try to convert me to the "joys" of this harmless passtime?

It is not the caravans, it is the roads.

My last trip to the county of Cornwall a couple of years back made me realise that for an area so dependent on the tourist they do their best to try and stop them going there. Over priced parking, minor roads that even in these parts would count as farm tracks, do nothing to make a visit enjoyable.

I agree with you zen and Norway. It's all very well having the experience of towing, a vehicle capable of pulling a caravan properly and suitable roads. All three together are bad but two of three is a nightmare.

Can't have that happen can we - although I smelled a whiff of hypocrisy the other day when I saw him engaging in "off topic" threads :)

Ban them! Shed draggers off the roads now. Also horse boxes, get off the road, get on the grassy field next to the road and ride the thing to where you want to go.

    That should escalate the discussion!

Next target area: two or more cyclists in tight lycra who think they are in an official "tour de anywhere" bike race and hog the whole of a lane for miles.

I would ban all car drivers who think that only they have the right to drive on Britain's roads.

Because I have been tailgated over the years by BMWs, Mercedes, Audis and especially Fords, I would ban all cars from these manufacturers from every road.

I would also ban anyone who thinks that cars are interesting objects in their own right or who watches Top Gear.

Oh and the tiny minority of L*t*n fans who actually own cars......

Welcome vic - good to have someone on here with very moderate views :)

Would it not be easier for you to nominate classes of people you would NOT ban <ok>

So Leo, you think that a moderate view is because someone has been held up by a caravan in the West Country, then they want all caravans banned from all roads in Britain? Seems reasonable........

I have often been held up by slow cars, slow lorries, slow vans (not many admittedly, and never white), slow buses, slow coaches and even the odd horse & cart (especially in Bedfordshire), but should these all be banned?

Yes, I say again and again. In fact ban everybody who isn't me driving (oh and the odd petrol tanker delivering fuel to my local Tescos).
