It's been a busy summer for Norfolk State Canaries. The departure of Coach Lambert during the close-season to Birmingham Villains meant that CEO D. McNally was left with the tough task of drafting a new Coach and supporting team; eventually, after several painful weeks for Franchise fans, Coach Hughton was unveiled as Canaries' new boss. Having previous EPL management experience with the Newcastle-based SportsDirect™-Toonz franchise, Coach Hughton is a popular appointment with Canaries fans.

    On to the matchup...

Saturday see's Canaries lineup against Cottagers in gameweek-1 of new the EPL series. Canaries will be headed into this matchup following a mixed inter-series-schedule, which included victories versus Bhoys and Posh, tiegames versus Dons, Tigers, and Cleanerz, and defeats versus Herthaz and LongNamerz. From those matchups, Canaries should take some comfort, with largely decent performances (with the exception of Cleanerz) and plenty of creative ballwork.

Coach Hughton: “It was a tough game, but that’s what we wanted. They are a team who finished fourth in their division last season, and we wanted this type of game. We’d rather have had this one than one that was a little bit more comfortable. It took us a little while to get to grips with their game which was very expansive. I thought certainly in terms chances we had some very good ones."

A feature of Canaries' inter-series-schedule has been the use of Score-Attempt-Converter G. Holt as a lone forward, and it looks likely that Coach Hughton may utilize this tactic versus Cottagers, relying on overlapping wide-receivers to attack the de-fense endzone. A. Pilkington and new-draftee R. Snodgrass look favourites for this role. Whatever happens, expect Canaries to maintain the attacking momentum which saw them defy the odds and finish midway in the divisional standings.

Cottagers will be headed into this matchup following a turbulent close-season which has seen them on the brink of losing their American-All-Starz Score-Attempt-Converter C. Dempsey. The controversy surrounding Dempsey's departure revolves around his rumoured draft to Liverpool RedSox, and he has been fined by the franchise for refusing to play in the EPL this series.

Coach Jol: "We want to keep him but it's impossible because he wants to go. Clint wants to go to a Champions League club. We have money to invest, but only in the right players. If we get the right price for Clint we will sell him. If not, he will stay."

In the absence of C. Dempsey Cottagers have recruited S-A-C H. Rodallega, who has impressed during his time with the North-West based Latics Franchise. Whether or not Cottagers can hit the ground running depends very much on if their new look offense can strike up an instant partnership; however don't expect the Canaries de-fense to make life easy for them!

This sure is going to be a great Soccer matchup, so fill up your Coca-Cola™ tankards, get your hot-dogs and grab a seat for this smash-and-grab matchup, brought to you exclusively on Not606!

NOTE: Hope you chaps enjoy the new design, all feedback is welcome so please share!

I've missed this! Should be a good game and Fulham will definitely be weaker without Dempsey.

Depends on the day which Fulham turn up but I'm going for a 1-1 here!

    Forget the rumour mill.
Forget Stan Collymore and his musings on twitter.
(Completely) forget Mark (Redsox) Lawrensen and his predictable doom and gloom Canary predictions.

THIS means the new football season has arrived <ok>

Dave - I'm not a cottager, we prefer the term "Public convenience loiterer".

    It's good to be back!

Here's the take on it from a rag called West London Sport.

"Fulham begin their Premier League campaign with a home fixture against Norwich and at 17/20 make plenty of appeal to make a winning start against a side who many are tipping for relegation.

The Canaries are 18/5 to gain a surprise result at Craven Cottage with the draw at 27/10.

Paul Lambert has left Carrow Road during the summer and although Chris Hughton has done an excellent job at both Newcastle and Birmingham City in recent seasons, Norwich are there for the taking and anything other than three points would be a disappointing start."

Strewth, chaps, looks like we're doomed, already <yikes> <laugh>

With Dempsey not playing, another stumbling block could have been a former player scoring against us, but Etuhu has moved on to Blackburn, so that's another worry neutralised!

Brilliant stuff, PC, now we know the new season is truly upon us, and I'm feeling confident as always, misplaced or not.

Loving the pyrotechnics, clearly influenced by the Olympics, yet somehow better. <ok>

Fulham fan (with a Canary brother-in-law) in peace. Best of luck for the season. I hope it's everything you wish for apart from being a crushing disappointment on the opening day! Should be a good game today - I'm setting out for it in the next hour or so. Dempsey's absence has been prepared for - he hasn't featured at all in pre-season, and we all expected him to be gone by now. Most Fulham fans on this board are agreed that Dembele would be a bigger loss, and (so far) he's still here. Watch out for Kacaniklic on the left if he plays, and for newboy Mladen Petric who has scored heavily in the friendlies. Come on you whites!

Hi Captain, I predicted a 2-0 City defeat a few days ago, but now it's matchday I'm feeling a little bit more confident and I'm thinking we might just snatch a point 1-1 <ok>

P.S. If you're a little confused about the theme of this thread it's somewhat of a tradition we have with our resident matchday thread poster

Ive gone from 1-1 draw to thinking possibly a slight win for he canaries. It will be a tough game, the first ones always are, and it's boiling hot as well.

I fancy Holt to score, he's been entirely too quiet in PRE-season. He's a match day guy, **** the training give it all on a Saturday type.
