So Bristol has a new Mayor.

Do we think it will make any difference?

Will he wake Bristol up and drag the city into the 21st Century? Not the AG city lot, that would be asking too much of any honest citizen!(WUM intended)

Could he really improve the infrastructure

Like a ring road; trams; metro even? Sports stadia; entertainment venues............

I know the voting turn out was low, but who the hell knew who anybody was and what they stood for?

Is it the case that those who voted tried to keep politics out of the issue and went for an Independant candidate?

It will not make one iota of difference.

Ferguson will end up banging his head against the wall in frustration because of the same reasons that have always afflicted the city, namely:

1, He will only control 66% of the actual city. The rest of Bristol is run by 'South Gloucestershire'.

2, Lack of Government funding because Bristol is not London or Oop North.

3, Incomers. Bristol is chock full of people who have escaped from London and don't want their provincial idyll ruined by anything that a big city might like, ie. decent sports stadia, an arena, reasonable public transport. Bloody nimbys.

Comon with 28% of the people actually bothering to vote.

Faintly embarrassing turnout ,hardly what one would call a mandate for the role.

Who really cares?
