Good Morning Everyone Gots got back to winning ways on Saturday at Oakwell Park, albeit against quite a poor Barnsley side. One of their on loan players even apologised on twitter. Joe Williams ✔@JoeWilliams0812 Gutted about the result Not good enough at all today, sorry to the fans who were class again we will look to put it right on Tuesday. Yet again it was Saiz who performed most of the inspiration on the pitch; its scary to think where we'd be without him? It seems likely that Klitch will be on his way in January. The 27 yo Pole could not even make it to the bench, even though Viera was suspended. Leeds are trying to wrap up a deal to bring Liverpool forward Ryan Kent to Elland Road in January. The 21 year old is currently on loan to Bundesliga outfit Freiburg, but has not started a game yet. It seems plausible the he will get recalled and end up at ER in January. Ekuban - hit or miss on Saturday? Its been 6 years since our favourite number 11 passed away. Gone, but never forgotten.
Morning all. Re Klitch, it’s probably understandable that if you sign 15 or 16 players in a transfer window there’s likely to be a certain amount of duds in the law of averages. Hopefully we’re finished with that approach. I’d far rather see us hold on to whatever quality we have and buy two or three quality players in each transfer window. Note the word buy. I don’t want to see a loanee from Liverpool or anywhere else. They’ve hardly ever worked out for us despite trying hundreds
Evening all. Totally agree Eire we don't need to keep having so many radical swings. Build on the good and develop the team. Loanees are only ever going to work if it is an expedient to get a transfer completed a bit later otherwise all we are doing is training some other teams players up.
Agree about loaners, unless they're a try before you buy. Why should we play another club's problem, then lose him when he's no longer a problem? I'm also not convinced that Klich is a dud. He's represented Poland, FFS, so obviously is a capable guy. However, you have to ask yourself why he's not playing, and a lot of people are assuming that either TC doesn't think he's good enough, or there's been a bust-up behind the scenes, or something like that. I actually wonder if the problem might be that he's just not familiar with the 4-2-3-1 system that TC prefers, and simply isn't adaptable enough to fit into this system. I don't know anything about the guy, but wonder if his english skills are perhaps not up to scratch, which would inhibit his understanding of what TC requires of him. Anyone know if his english is up to scratch? Just as an aside, I've noted that that none of the guys who aren't getting game time are playing with the u23s. Makes me think that they're all in TCs plans, which in turn makes me think that we won't be moving anyone on in January.
Morning all (evening Eric) Barnsley were poor or made to look poor? It does amuse me, when we lose we are sh1t, when we win the opposition are poor or had an off day. For the record, Barnsley have taken points off Norwich, Derby, Wednesday, Preston, Forest and Middlesbrough to name a few. We beat Burton because they are rubbish, Millwall beat us because we are rubbish, Burton beat Millwall because the Wallies are rubbish. Makes you wonder why people pay money to watch Championship football when, evidently, just about every team is rubbish
Good Morning to Matt Eric Kevin and WJ AND CO FROM a dull Bardsey I agree 3 or 4 signings in January would get the balance of the team right We need a goalkeeper a left back and a striker We have not replaced Green Wood or taylor At least we won at one of our bogey grounds
The championship is probably more enjoyable than the PL because of exactly this - it makes it interesting
Yep very true, though it’s chicken and egg, sometimes it’s hard to tell whether a side is poor or being put under pressure and made to look poor. My personal experience of individual sport is that if you play someone who is just a bit better than you... or better on the day, you always feel you played badly - because you were having to do everything a split second faster, under more pressure... it creates errors, rash decisions etc. in team sports it’s compounded as not only is the pass to you less accurate, given at the wrong time, over hit etc, you witness your team mates flustered and it impacts on you mentally. You can see nerves spread through a team sometimes. Barnsley's Passing was poor, they were trying the Hollywood pass too much too early but no doubt our pressing restricted their options and forced their hand. So let’s take some credit for that. The difference between our good performances and bad ones seems to me to be how effective our press is. Ie like a lot of sides, we’re much better at taking advantage of broken play than of breaking down sides in possession. Some days it doesn’t look like we are really trying to harry the opposition in possession.. maybe we are and some teams are better at dealing with it? Dunno.
Morning all, but I dont want Ryan Kent here especially if he cant even get a game in Germany. We dont do too well with loan players do we, as can be seen by having the likes of Townsend, Bannon, Livermore etc who leave us then go on to become Internationals without looking great when at Leeds. CBJ starts well then dumped? Pennington is brilliant and would play him before Cooper but sat on the bench, so we hardly do ourselves favours. We need 3 or 4 top signings, not loans in January so hope Orta has already got some lined up. Its plain to me that Klich isnt happy and as far as lanuages go he speaks fluent German so can communicate with Tommy and half the squad, plus his English is pretty good. I appreciate many on here dont like him, but why were half the teams in Germany & Holland wanting him in the Summer. Hes a full International and his record 2013 Zwolle 13 appearances with 2 goals 2014 Zwolle 30 appearances with 4 goals 2015 Kaiserslauten 21 appearances with 4 goals 2016 FC Twente 29 appearances with 6 goals He has a better strike rate than many strikers, and hes a defensive midfielder? So I reckon theres been a falling out and we sell him in January. Left back, striker & keeper required in January
We were linked with Kent in the summer but he’s a winger... not a priority i’d Have thought. He caused lots of problems against us last year but was apparently hot and cold. Loan with a view to buy? Maybe. Klich? Sometimes players just don’t suit a league’s style of play.. or a team’s formation. Doesn’t make them a bad player. My guess is it’s one of those reasons, rather than a falling out... or one if those reasons had led to a falling out! As for all those sides interested? Well he came to the the English second tier.. maybe they weren’t as interested as his agent will have been telling people... or maybe they wanted him as a squad player and he thought his chances were better here. Whichever likelihood is no one thought he was worth more than we paid his club or him. Same with every signing we get!
True, with some, though he was the only one in his position. Just not considered good enough to oust those we already had.
Klitch obviously unhappy about team selection, he posted the following tweet before Saturday’s game...
