Good Morning Everyone The Honeymoon period is officially OVER.... This time last week we were perched at the top of the table, but back to back defeats at Cardiff and Hillsborough have definitely sent shockwaves through the Elland Road camp. Where do we go from here? Would it be fair to attribute blame? Christiansen says he will analyse Felix Wiedwald's influence after Leeds' knightmare week. I understand that you cannot blame any one individual player, but as far as I tell, I've never been comfortable in his ability. I suppose that's what £500,000 buys you. Would anybody else like Green back? To make matters worse Jansson was stretchered from the field after 72 minutes following a collision with Phillips. He did not look in a good way afterwards. After the game Christiansen said: “If you can give me another word it will be fine but from my point of view we were not strong. When you have to compete in a league like this you have to be ready to compete 100 per cent, 120 per cent, making all the challenges like it’s the last one in the game. “We went out in the first 20, 25 minutes and did quite well and had our opportunities. After that we conceded two goals too easily. We’re too soft in both boxes when the ball is there and we have to improve a lot in that sense.
Let's spare a though for Boggers and his family. It's his send off today. We'll be thinking of you pal. Big Leeds salute...
Morning all. Keeper is useless and is clearly undermining the confidence of the defenders. Some of the new lads are either unable or unwilling to battle for results. Won’t be as active on here during international break. I’m sure there will be the usual petty squabbles to keep the threads full
Good morning Matt and co from a very windy Bardsey Poor keeper making defenders unsettled Saiz was the only plus Hope Janson is OK we need him focused
morning all Will be thinking of the Boggers family today. I get the feeling that our back 4 is very fragile this season. One man down and it goes to pot. We should have spent the summer finding that extra CB but we can spend all our criticizing the summer business but we could do that every summer.
Morning Elland, yes the honeymoon is very much over, its time for TC to analyse the squad HE has put together and ask questions, just like we are. Did TC come to LS11 and analyse the players that were already there then start strengthening? if so there is a massive question mark with him and his backroom staff, for example: Wiedwalds v's Green, well thats a foregone conclusion, ship the kraut out. Anita, to be fair has not done a bad job, but i think he is too slow. Personally i would look at working with and making Dallas a LB (Revie did it with Terry Cooper) Cooper, not in the same class as Pennington, Pontus and even the young irish lad in my opinion, but TC makes him captain??? O'Kane, never really rated him, Viera could do a much better job as holding MF. Roofe, cant make the mind up if he is a Striker or Midfielder, neither can he, well just get rid of him, he wont be missed. Alioski, set off great but seems to have faded in recent games, is it bad coaching or apathy on his and others behalf. Lassogo, can understand him being pissed off, brought back from Germany after new birth and was put on the bench and not played prior to this game. Radz looked well pissed off in the stand, but i think TC has to be given to mid November then assess the situation then, luckily we have a international break that gives time for the Dane to sort this out, if not i can see Radz giving him the old ultimatum "shape up or ship out" Finally, RIP Boggers your views and opinions on here are sadly missed.
My impression of the Millwall/Wednesday games was that both teams are unlikely to play better all season. This is the penalty of being a big club. We must remember that this team and the manager are a new unit and must be given time to adapt to what is needed to do well in this league. I believe the top priority is to sign a top class goalkeeper.
Iv,e always said i had no confidence in our keeper, kept all those clean sheets mainly because of the guys in front of him gave him nothing to do or save.now the defence is brittle shows his true capeabilities (if he has any) Personally i would have green back in an instance, big mistake letting him go like that.Myself as most of us not sure why we have gone from very good to very poor overnight, but it needs sorting, but the big difference this season unlike previouse seaons,we have the quality & ability to turn this slump around, just hope TC can do it sooner rather than later before we lose sight of the top of the division.
Goodbye Boggers my old mate I saw a quote from a fan before yesterdays game: If we win today its been a fkg brilliant start to the season. If we draw today its been an excellent start, if we get beat its been a good start to the season. Felix - Who is this goolkeeping coach we brought in & what has he changed in Felix's game. You dont go from 2nd best in Germany to Paddy in a few games. Back 4 - Not had a settled back 4 all season so far, but the best looking one was Ayling, Cooper, Pennington & CBJ at the start and it surprised us all. Pontuc came back and has been great as usual, but unusually has also had a couple of bad games. CBJ from a confident start has died when he was given another game, so something wrong there. Cooper brilliant then stupid, Ayling brilliant but thinks he's Ronaldo, Pennington back now and looks great but trying to fit into a system? Anita has been great but fell away, Berardi battles but ..... Midfield - We have a wealth of riches but are wasting them, so Tommy needs to sort it out
Yesterdays game could have been the last for the Wendies manager, he was also expecting it. We started great and could have scored which I feel would have won the game as panic sets in for the Wendies. Then out of the blue we let them score & in a few minutes it was men against boys as we go 2 down. If the Lassoga attempt had gone in instead of hitting the post it may also have been a different story, but we then allowed them to consolidate. We lost again and by a load of goals. We now get to see what Tommy gets a wage for, as his job is to sort it by whatever means
Lonergran as keeper would maybe instill some much needed confidence in the defence in front of him, just might be the place to start on fixing this slump
Felix - Who is this goolkeeping coach we brought in & what has he changed in Felix's game. You dont go from 2nd best in Germany to Paddy in a few games. He was the worst keeper in the league in his last 2 seasons with an average of letting in 2 goals per game. let in 13 goals his last 3 games. was described as truly awful by the critics 2009-2011 please log in to view this image Werder Brema II 39 (-57) 2009-2011 please log in to view this image Werder Brema 0 (-0) 2011-2013 please log in to view this image Duisburg 47 (-63) 2013-2015 please log in to view this image E. You can't blame TC for signings he had no say in, let's be honest we don't know whether he has complete control over team selection. We know TC didn't want Green to go. What you can 'blame' him for is sticking to his attacking formation principles and leaving us exposed at the back. Our defensive problems are coming from getting out numbered when we give possession away, plus some poor positioning and undoubtedly not helped by communication and judgement of the keeper. We apparently signed players after lots of dossiers to check they have the right temperament etc. Whether they have the right physicality for this league, whether we have any leadership on the pitch... we have capitulated after a good start now twice... is another matter. We can make hockaday comparisons if we want (actually from what players have said, there was nothing wrong with hockaday's coaching - he got dealt an unplayable hand). We lost 3 key players over the summer and only replaced 2 of them. I said a while back we'll find out what TC is made of when he has a sticky patch... but let's not pretend it's his team. At least Monk chose his players even if he didn't get much of a budget.
I know he's a lot of peoples hero, but i'll put my tin hat on ready... I think Pontus positional sense recently has been awful at times. Whether that's because he needs a regular partner to get used to or his heads just not with it, i dno.
wolves fans will tell you Lonergan was a disaster for them! Rumours i hear is that he looks good in training.
He was ball watching for their second as hooper slipped in behind him. However, he was typically given a free role at set pieces to attack the ball, whether that muddies the waters I don't know. Phillips let hooper slip in behind him for the first. I'm not sure why midfielders are marking strikers. The first ipswich goal had hernandez and o'kane picking up mcgoldrick from the free kick. I appreciate that on set-pieces you sometimes put your lumps on their lumps, but even so... we've been getting more shambolic defensively as a team for 4-5 games.
