Kiwi, with respects, Redders may not have a balanced squad, arguable of course, but it's Redders responsibility to pick a balanced team, which he doesn't. We have Monty, Adryan and Duke who can play on wings, but he doesn't want to replace any of his academy boys, he's obsessed in that respect. When it comes to dressing room and results, then Redders is solely responsible for what happens, no one else. If he's here next season then we'll probably be a mid table team again, if and when another coach comes in and does much better than Redders, then Redders will be forgotten.
Monty has failed to break through despite three coaches seeing him daily and not picking him. Adryan is ****e and Doukara cant head so why should Redders pick them LL?
So he can stop harping on about having no wingers. Point is, despite complaining, he's never really tried other than temporarily using players who started off as fullbacks, and Taylor didn't do to well at LM so Redders moved him around. Rather than drop his boys he just moves them around out of position; if he brought two wingers in, he'd have to drop 2 of his boys / favourites, and that's a no no with Redders. I don't think Monty's failed, like a lot of players, he isn't given enough game time, can't do much in 5 minutes but Redders expects miracles from his subs. I think it's unfair to say some out of favour players have been seen by 3 coaches, especially when some, including yourself knock Hockaday and Darko as being rubbish, yet many are now saying Redders ain't up for the job and he's always bias towards his academy boys and favourites......
If we had been in the same position playing Cellinos poor quality signings then people would have screamed give the academy lads a try, he can't win. Conventional managers get to sign players of their choice, these could be called their favourites. Redfearn gets signed players he had to probably Wiki too, is it any wonder he sticks with players he knows and trusts? All managers do it, Warnock brought in a few of his own as did McD, picking, selecting, buying your favourite players isn't a new thing.
I think its a bit rich though, fans slamming him for not playing players because of a supposed bias. Hes seen Adryan, Montenegro etc for a whole season every day so presumably knows their form a lot better than any of us.The same stuff was said in the past about Nunez, Hall, White, give them a chance. They were all proved to be ****e in the end and careers went nowhere. Some players are no good, simple as, whether they call themselves wingers or forwards or whatever. Remember Stewart and Kebe, two wingers, also crap and McD persisted with them to the point of it being a bad joke
Exactly, he has seen these players on the training pitch and in his opinion the academy lads are better, as Leeds fans, unless we see it with our own eyes we don't believe that they could possibly be worse. Let's wait and see who replaces Redfearn, let's see if Cellino disagrees and signs the loan players as we have an option to or let's see if Cellino sends them all packing as I suspect he will. As for playing people out of position, Adryan is an attacking midfield player, he was described by Cellino as a perfect number 10 so is not playing him out on the wing doing exactly the same thing? Doukara - A striker who can play as a winger, 'can' being the key word, he is not a winger and while playing for Calcio Catania he played up front as a striker.
Looks like Eire and Ristac have already covered virtually everything I was going to say, but whatever How can Redders pick a balanced team when he doesn't have a balanced squad? Ridiculous statement to make. We have no natural wingers, no real pace, an overload of central midfield players, one natural left back - etc, etc. Because of the lack of wingers, we're playing two full backs in wide positions, a CB at RB and a RB at LB most weeks. Mowatt's had to play wide despite pace being the most obvious weakness to his game, purely because he's left footed. The only 'balanced' formation we suit is the diamond, and in case you've forgotten, that fiasco took us to within one point of the relegation zone. As for trying Duke/Adryan/Monty out wide so he can 'stop harping on about not having any wingers', how about Cellino goes out and signs some bloody natural wingers in the first place so we can stop with this ridiculous square pegs in round holes routine? Doukara is not a winger - he's a striker. Being able to play a position doesn't make you any good in that position. Replacing a player playing out of position with another player playing out of position is a ridiculous answer. Adryan is barely involved in games when he's played through the centre, so to play him out wide is going to make him more isolated than ever, and as Ristac said, Cellino himself suggested he was a 'perfect number 10'. Monty, to be fair, does seem to play wide for the U21s but if he was that good surely he would've broken through under Hockaday or Milanic? I agree that he deserves more than 5 minute substitute appearances but Redfearn's inability to be proactive with substitutions is a different topic of conversation. I don't blame Redfearn for not wanting to replace his academy boys, they've all been decent this year. Byram's improved after a poor start, Cook's been excellent all season (I know you're not a fan), Taylor stepped into the breach after arguably our best player in the first half of the season left and showed we didn't miss him, and where on earth would we be without Mowatt's goals? I remember when Redders persisted with Adryan, Doukara and Antenucci, and we were left within a point of the relegation zone. He changed the system, and the academy quartet were instrumental in that. I think he has every right to stick with them. Results, yes, the coach will always take the flak, regardless of what goes on behind the scenes. That's a fact of football and one I'm sure Redfearn understands. As for the dressing room, I disagree. How can Redfearn command the respect of players he didn't sign? The foreigners aren't here for Redfearn, they're here for Cellino. Redfearn has the respect of the academy products, and seemingly the respect of the British players in the squad too (Sharp aside, and he never seems happy with anything to be honest). Can't really blame him for sticking to players who respect him. You could argue that it's his fault for not being able to command the respect of the foreigners but I'd disagree, purely because what can he do? He can't threaten them with the transfer list. He can't sell them. He can't make them train away from the first team. They're invincible because they're Cellino's signings and part of his squad, not Redfearn's. If you walked into a job as head of an office full of cliques, but had no say in the way things were run and couldn't fire those who undermined you, what would you do? You'd rely on those you could trust to get the job done, simple as that. As for next season: we'll always be a mid-table side, and it has nothing to do with Redders, nor the next coach, nor the coach after that - it's to do with Cellino.
Add to that, the foreigners know damn well, if they throw a hissy fit, theyre likely to get Redders sacked, so what have they done, culminating in a stupid tweet from our Italian goalie during the night, thrown a big hissy of course
Tweeted he was left out of team for today and didnt understand why. Interestingly he and two of his Italian chums were supposedly on the piss last night. Hes taken some stick on twitter since
Here Here is the tweet Boggers. Just how undermining and devious is this on what is likely Redders last day. Hope he never plays again for us to be honest
Regarding the tweet, disgraceful behaviour and another prime example of how the players will always try and get the coach in trouble, they know Cellino is the puppet master and as long as he keeps signing puppets...
I hadn't seen the tweet until now - ridiculously unprofessional. Redfearn's well within his rights to stick with Taylor.
So it's wrong for an Italian to tweet his disappointment, but it's ok for Sharp to do it serially - and get back in the team to boot?? At least be consistent, boys! It's either right or wrong. Personally, I'd ban them all from Twitter. It brings no benefit to the club whatsoever.
