Good Morning Everyone, We have three welcome points on the board after an unexpected win against a good Boro side at Elland Road on Saturday. The goal came after a shot at goal could only be parried from Tonge, and there was goal poacher Billy Sharp to fire home in front of 25,000 fans. If we are to progress up the league, Leeds will need to keep possession of the ball a lot better. I think during the entire game, we were able to string six passes together before losing control of the ball. One of the biggest culprits was Austin. Admittedly, he never stopped running, made some decent blocks, broke up the play and showed a great attitude, but, lost the ball more then he retained it. What is the answer? If speculation on this board is to be believed, we will be signing Brazilian ace Adryan today!!! The 20 yo Brazilian has been a target of Cellino's for some time, and with a fee agreed believed to be in the region of 5m, we will be expecting great things from him. BREAKING NEWS please log in to view this image Phil Hay @PhilHayYEP · 4m Transfer-wise, #lufc still on with Adryan but I'm being told that he's not in Leeds today. A lot of work to do with that deal still. For all those that met up at the Boro match, hope you all had a great time. Any stories, we want to hear about them....
Great result but like you say we need to move the ball around quicker and keep it for longer. Rudy is the weakest link on the pitch now and think he needs dropping or selling, because we have some better players who can do that job now. Middelsboro will be near to the top this season as they really do have a good coach, so lets hope our's can carry on improving so that he can prove himself to be earning his role. Adryan at $5m is either brilliant or a silly move, as he's young but supposed to be awesome in midfield. Only 3-points out of contention now and we really do need to keep improving, or this league has a way of spitting you out of the back door. Still new faces to come and any more news on the bamford situation because that kid does score goals.
Morning elland, thanks for another good thread ... agree completely on ball retention, the big problem is without width passing options are limited and opponents can put pressure on a lot easier as our players take extra touches waiting for a receiver to find space ... Boro proved this through the ease they played their way forward via their full backs who had acres of space and so represented a comfortable out ball ... I'm sure this would have been noticed ... crikey, we're thinking about paying
It's 5 mill euros! Thats about 20p in proper miney isn't it? £3.2 Mill or thereabouts if the back of my *** packet is accurate.
good point elland, he did the first thing right and that was keep the shot out ... when you see it from behind it was a vicious strike, dipping in front of him, but at this level people will say he should have pushed it sideways ... that said, it was brilliant finish from Sharp, and it showed his natural ability to score goals, very Shearer-like that finish
Good morning all and it is a good one. Agree on Austin. Put in a great effort Saturday but he's clearly limited in the finer skills department. Interesting to see if hock can get the same 100% effort from everyone again tomorrow night. If he does, might be a lot of people with egg on their faces. As for adryan, I can't see it happening but we can't underestimate the pulling power of mr Salerno. I posted this somewhere last night but here is a little taster of the Brazilian in action. Apologies if you've already seen it http://youtu.be/VNc_yNmlxFg
Good to see transfer fees being conducted in euros. It's the currency nearly all Europe use except you backward lot
Ring Malamison and ask reception what time he has his breakfast, and what he had! Probably still in bed yet (better not be late for his meeting with MC)!!!!! 60 get yourself to TA with a camera. if you get a picture of him today there is a beer in it for you.
Good morrow from the Roger Thorpe Hotel Day 1 If we don't sign Aryan who's going nominate Glory for the SBA. But in all serious if and when we do get him then it does prove the intensions of the club. Oh if we do sign him today can somebody tweet me plz
Not so long ago Rudy Austin was the best player on the pitch ...... now he's not and usually the worst. We still have Dawson, Mowatt, Murphy, Taylor and cook as well as Byram all pushing for starting births. Feel sorry for Smith but we shouldn't sell him but should move heaven and earth to offload, Morison, Hunt, Kenney, Norris, Warnock in the next week or so.
crikey Eire, this Adryan lad is talented ... if Cellino puts the money down we'll get him because Flamengo won't say no ... Smith and Sharp will hurt defences, because Smith works centre backs hard and Sharp is intelligent enough to get into spaces for the knock downs ... I'm okay with Warnock staying at least until January
Morning all. Why wopuld we want to offload Warnock Doc? He was our best player on Saturday. On Austin, he's still the best we've got at breaking up attacks. Let the kids who will overtake him in the pecking order eventually earn their place first of all. On Austin himself, he'll get better the more he plays in the DM role. On Adryan, if we get him, do we play 4 or 5 in midfield? 4 would mean a normal 4 at the back, 2 up top with Austin in the DM role and maybe no role for Ajose. 5 would mean 3 CBs at the back and Adryan in a forward role but where would you play Ajose & how would you fit Warnock AND Byram into a midfield 5? Nice position to be in, but a bit of a headache for Hockmadooddlegandi
Cook in for Austin for me then we are laughing. Was talking to my insider and he says Benedicic hasn't impressed at all and looked way out of his depth in the 11 v 11 training games
