Good Morning Everyone, After a lot of toing and froing Viviani has finally put pen to paper and signed on a season long deal, but not before director of football Nicola Salerno had to step in to calm the waters. You'll recall Cellino's rant over the weekend saying the deal was dead, and he would not be taking Viviani to Elland Road. Well, Salerno took over negotiations, smoothed the waters, and voila, one quality signing (hopefully) One down, five more to go til the big kick off next weekend. Who will be next? Leeds travel to Swindon tonight, and although its just another pre season fixture, I really hope we put in a good performance. I'd like to see us retain the ball, look comfortable at the back, see our forwards get into good positions, show some flair, maybe a bit of skilll; am I asking too much? I believe tonight will be more about the performance then the result, though surely as I said against Chesterfield, we should win by a couple of goals.
Morning all We should see at least one more deal announced today along with Viviani, as another one was agreed last night for another Italian. Has anyone seen the Cellino jr interview at TA yesterday with the YEP. He almost hints that Hock will be gone if results don't happen, and although he likes Hock .... Hock needs to not only put out a team that know what to do, but also win over us skeptics and I hope he does for his sake.
Morning guys. Hope we can put on a good performance against Swindon and win by a few. Glad we got Vivani, it's the type of player we need, but think it will take him a bit of time to bed in. We need a few more through the door this week really. Otherwise the team won't get going tillb September, October. I'd like to see Hock at least use some of the other new players we brought in. If our best 11 is still the dross from last season what was the point in getting them.
Good morning Matt and co from yet another sunny day at Cote de Bardsey Well MC used what I called reverse phycology in getting the boy to sign a clever little bit of business I think . It would appear that Agard could be the next signing so my call for wide boys must have been heard Now to the rumour about Glen Murray if you recall his goals practically got Palace into the playoffs before he sustained a very bad injury which kept him out of the team last season . It now appears we are sounding Palace out but on the sidelines is Bolton and I think the lure of playing with his old clubmate Freedman may sway him to sign for them alternatively it could mean a swap Matt for Murray Im not sure about this though I have grown to like the honest Smith and think he will only get better whilst Murray might not be the mint he once was
Morning all. Viviani might be the answer to some of our prayers, only time will tell. But I'd quite like to see the young Irish lad, McDaid, given a chance to show what he can do at this level. Might also solve the question with all these Italian imports coming in, will McDaid make it this season to the 1st team squad, or is he work in progress & as such hould go out on loan to get game time? Saturday was poor. I just hope tonight we see a bit more quality coming through. I'd also like us to start with the Italian at RB & Byram at RM.
Morning all. Tonights game might be a bit of trial and error. We should be looking for some sign of team cohesion and passion. With new players already here and some on the horizon it could take some time to get a settled squad who could at least get off to a reasonable start.
Benedicic is a done deal I'm told, and if we also pick up Agard today we will have brought in 3 new first choice players, so maybe Hock should keep it shut about things, and show some balls and tell some of our players they're surplus to requirements and lucky not to be sued for pretending to be football players. A lot of those players damaged our club between Xmas and April. I'm with Boggers regarding young Robbie being given a chance. Why not he has more skill than many at the club, he's quick and lively and knows where the goal is un like anyone else at the club right now.
Morning all ... pleased we got Viviani, looks like Benedicic coming as well ... that means we'll have 142 central midfielders to choose from, guess we'll be playing a 1-9-1 formation then ... seriously though, we will have a shed load of midfielders and a lot of players therefore sitting in the stands ... we need 2 x centre backs, 3 x wide players, 2 x strikers ... we don't need anymore midfield cover ... McDaid can play down the left and has bags of pace so may be worth a run tonight but unlikely ... Swindon will be a lot harder than Chesterfield so the boys need to step up, wonder if Hock is selecting his Millwall eleven Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Morning all Do you lot know what a state Swindon are in? There struggle to get 11 first teamers out there. Think a lower league Blackpool if you will.
Morning all. Another successful day in the transfer market. Looking forward to seeing shape of team by end of August. Clearly will be a significant improvement on last year
Not true, I watched them against Southampton and their new £15m striker Pele, and you would of never of guessed who was the premier league team. A very even game that Southampton just edged 1-0, will be a good test tonight
Really? I was just talking to a swindon fan at work (I'm fairly close to the area) and he said they were releasing loads of players as they quite simply havent got the cash. They got a new man in charge and basically said no money for signings and the big earners have got to go. They might just happen to have a coach who can coach or maybe they raised there game for the Saints (no love loss there)
Swindon is my 2nd home due to work down there. Basically the same team as last season without a few loan players they had. They have no money but have not sold anyone of note (yet). Will be a tough game.
Morning all Heading over to Italy for a week so I'll keep a scouting eye out for some bargains. Have some extra luggage space
