Good morning everyone from cloudy Harrogate.

There is only one subject for discussion this morning.

19 March 2014 is a date that will go down in infamy.

No, not because scum scraped a win against the Greeks and ended up getting a dodgy draw against Athletico in the quarter finals but because one of our own turned out to be taking money on their "success".

Can anyone think of a bigger form of treachery in all of time?

Have you ever done anything you were really ashamed of?

Morning GH ... truth is, I am ashamed that a White would actually bet on Scum to win, it is just not on ... how can you cheer when they score? Anyway, Atletico are a good team, and they will wipe the floor with Scumchester, the Greeks were very soft ... think the turncoat should be sent to the Scum board for a month to learn that they really aren't football fans but simply whining ****s

    Yep, guilty.

    Here's the story.

I wanted a Olympiakos win, but expected manure to overturn the result.

I knew if I started watching and manure scored an early goal I would turn the channel and be forced to watch storage hunters <yikes>

So, I made a bet on manure to win!!!

I also bet on both teams to score, and or miss a pen. For instance if Olympiakos missed a pen, that would have been 40/1

Must admit, I did wind Glory up a bit last night over it.....

    Fair enough.

    Good topic of the day.

Have you, or would you ever bet against the side that you want to win?

Believe me, there was no cheering, though there was a bit of winding up for Glory's attention!

The other question I would ask you for those confident enough to answer is :-

If galatasaray were playing manure, and you had to pick who won, who would you pick and why?

(You're not allowed to abandon the match, blow the stadium up or interupt the game in any way)

Suppose I was kinda hedging my bets. At half time I stuck 20 pounds on Olympiakos to qualify just to protect my bet

Every few years I have a new team who I cheer when they do bad, always because of someone I know and associate with them or the way the club, players or fans behave. I remember being on a Liverpool hate fest when Kewell joined.

I don't carry the same hatred towards Man U as many seem to, don't get me wrong I am hoping and cheering the opposition on every game but if someone gave me a betting slip with the chance of winning a few hundred quid if they won I would prefer to pocket the cash.

    I can be brought but I don't care :cheesy::cheesy:

Just to add I have never and would never bet against Leeds

I do hate manure and wanted them to lose, BUT expected them to win, so I made the bet. I was kinda in a win win situation. If Olympiakos won, I would have been delighted, but was happy at winning a few hundred quid

I have never bet against a team I wanted to win. I unfortunately don't have that kind of spare cash to throw away. You'd need to be an estate agent or something to have that sort of dosh

I did read some years ago that a Leeds fan bet his savings (about 10k) for Leeds to lose against Watford in the play off final

My dad used to be like that, he would always bet against his team figuring it was a win win situation. If they won he would be happy, if they lost he would win some money.

Honestly, I wouldn't care. The players never stabbed the two Leeds lads so I would only want them defeated because of their fans. On the flip side I don't want Man U to win anything and I want them out of Europe to see how their over paid players cope with not being in Europe and trophy less and watching their approach to strengthen in the summer hindered due to the same fact.

Just thinking though if Elland had backed Leeds to lose every game this season, he'd probably now be able to buy the club. Maybe thats how GFH are continuing to stumble aong, the odd visit to the bookies here and there

    Morning all <ok>

Haven't and never would bet against the team I wanted to win, elland that's treacherous behaviour on your part <laugh>

Messing around with a new Match Thread idea at the minute. They've been getting a bit wordy, so you'll have to let me know what you think when it's up (probably around lunch) <cheers>
