    Morning Folks,

Its the start of a new dawn...

GFH Capital have sold a stake in Leeds Utd to a group of Bristish investors, but went short of naming them.

We're 99.9% sure we are talking about Haigh and Flowers, well lets hope anyway....

Why was this news kept so under wraps?

Surely they could have released a statement saying, we understand the takeover wil start going through later this week!!!!

    Surely, we're worth that???

So, what does this mean for Leeds Utd?

What changes are they going to make?

Maybe Haigh will want to put up a plaque outside Elland Road in memory of his beloved Margaret Thatcher?

More importantly, does this mean that Leeds will be given some spending money?

Today's debate we will be talking about Leeds Utd Chairman in the past twenty years, and how they have helped / hindered our great club!!! See if you can put them into some kind of order, best to worst!

    Bill Fotherby

    Peter Ridsdale

    Professor John McKenzie

    Trevor Birch

    Gerald Krazner

    Ken Bates

    Salah Nooruddin (GFH)

I'll never forget Fotherby being sent out to the World Cup, to scout, and bring back Fastino Asprilla, then thinking he knew best, and arriving back in the UK with Tomas Brolin <doh>

Morning all. Underwhelmed at the leaking of the takeover stuff. Won't affect us unless fourth member is minted. Just means more individuals own a chunk of our club. Personally I just hope these guardians look after their new venture and run it properly and that includes putting PROPER finances in place now and in coming years to get us back to being a major pl team rather than a mediocre, going nowhere championship outfit.
Bates worst chairman, smiley salad best as has done nothing to harm the club that we know of

Personally i couldn't give two ducks how minted they are, they are 100% better than the last shower we had in charge and i firmly believe Haigh has grown to love the club and wants to improve us.

What a spoofer Fotherby was. I'm sure he said we were going for Gazza and Duncan Ferguson, maybe not at the same time. He'd sell coals to Newcastle(when the pits were still there)

Chairman - The world of football changed beyond all recognition and we were caught with our pants down. Fotherby was out of his depth when the changes started and Ridsdale thought he was in sweet shop so he got fooked over too. That transitional period between the old and the new was dire for us as both the old and the new were out of their depth and we're still suffering because of it.

As for the new consortium, I think you can stick them up my arse because I see no improvements. Yes I preffered GFH to Bates but what did they do besides steady the ship and sell shares on between themselves a few times, and then sell a lot more because all they wanted to do was make some cash for themselves. Haigh and his new boys have no serious cash yet they want to own a piece of us, why? because they want to sell it on again and make some cash for themselves. When will we get an owner who is in it for the long term and can finance our growth and promotion?

We need to own TA and ER and invest serious cash in the squad

Morning all. The best chairman we've had was Salad Bar. Slowly but surely we're moving in the right direction. I disagree with Bates being the worst only because we were in such a financial mess that took longer to bottom out than anyone thought. Whatever else he did, Papa Smurf put uas back on an even financial keel. For this reason for getting us into such a financial mess, I think Ridsdale has to go down as our worst chairman ever.

I dont really get this chairman debate. Football has moved on, it's a business. It's our hobby as fans, but the clubs themselves are just businesses. I can't remember the chairman of M & S or Tesco's being expected to to dip into his own pocket to pay for extra staff or buy new shops. They should be run to stand on their own feet and not treated as a toy by the mega rich. What happens when football falls out of favour?

I do a job where rule 1 is, "Do no harm". From that perspectiv e, Salad bar is our best chairman in years. Bates brought stability to the club, but tried to build the bround before the team. Krasner, Birch, and Mackenzie did nothing at all. Ridsdale gave us the living the dream nightmare, which would have hailed him as a great chairman, but he nearly bankrupted the club. Can't remember Fotherby, but by process of elimination, he must have been in charge during the Revie era and when we won the old 1st division in '92. If so, he can't have been that bad.

Morning Masochists ... McKenzie wasn't chairman (well he didn't run the club), he was brought in by Krasner to help negotiate player sales (economics teacher) and they paid him £500k!! So what did he do? He totally botched the Kewell deal when Liverpool were prepared to pay £7m, instead sold him for £5m and Leeds only got £3m (£2m to agent) ... the email correspondence between him and Kewell's agent was a joke, he buckled straight away and gave Kewell away for fcuk all because he didn't have a clue ... needless to say he left after this gigantic fcuk up!! Oh, and Scum/Barcelona both bid £7m, Arsenal £5m and two players ... apparently Liverpool paid £2m to Kewell in a bung

Good post 60. The opposition player rolling around the floor like a big girl didn't help Smith's case. But this screw up affords others an opportunity. I really hope that Hunt starts and shows us why BMD got him in the first place. Unfortunately, I think Varney might start instead. But again, with us having real wingers now, maybe this will afford Vrney the opportunity to impress.

Either way, we need a markedly better performance against Leicester than was shown against the Wendies.

Believe it or not Hunt has a hell of a leap. He would suit playing with two wingers and would stretch the play even more for McCormack to pop up in the wholes created from the defence getting dragged wide and also tracking him. This is his chance to prove himself. Is he good enough? I thought so when we signed him but from what I've seen of him in our shirt I am more than dubious.

I am today putting money on Wigan getting promoted, I kid you not. Ever since they got rid of that cock they have been on great form. They offloaded Grant Holt (Who I would love at ER as he's twice the player Becchio was) and now brought in Maynard from Cardiff. They are flying, have a decent squad with prem experience and have parachute payments.

Come on Brian see what top striker you can scare up for us please. Bucks is right about Hunt because I tgink he needs one more chance to show us what he's about. We now have 2 wingers and if Hunt can do what he did when he last played with Kebe it could be good.

Pretty sure it was Fotherby who said we were signing Maradona for £10m, probably around £50m in today's money
