Good Morning Everyone, There hasn't been any controversy in a while... Here we go.... Leeds have banned Sky TV cameras from Elland Road! Leeds officials have stopped Sky TV from entering Elland Road with their camera equipment on Monday, to stop them screening the Derby game. Cellino told staff to ban the cameras as he feels the team feature on TV too often. Our Italian maverick says he's trying quietly "to stop the club, supporters, players & employees of Leeds Utd from being by strangled" by the deal. Enter the Football League.... "The League has been made aware that Sky personnel have been unable to access Elland Road as previously arranged," a Football League spokesman said in a statement. "We have contacted Leeds United to remind the club of its obligations to our broadcast partner and to ask them for their observations." Leeds have yet to reply.... Every game we play is important, but none more so than tonight's game. A win WILL put up into the top half of the table, and with Cellino promising to invest in the team if there is an inkling of the play offs, 3 points tonight is a must in my opinion. Agree? Who'd settle for a point? Under what circumstance should Byram be sold in January? a) Not at all if we are in the top half of the table come January b) Swapsies with Bridcutt (and enough change for a not606 party) c) 5m plus d) 8m plus Byram has scored 3 games in as many games, and whilst Wood and Antenucci are firing blanks, should we let him go? If investment were to happen, what is the most important position? Is there anyone in particular you would like to bring in?
Cellino's lawyers have requested a copy of the broadcast deal agreed between the Football League and Sky Sports but the governing body has so refused to grant him access to the contract.
Very, very intersting. Phil Hay is saying that Cellino is taking this stance because of fixture alterations. The BBC are saying 'he feels the team feature on TV too often, causing a negative effect on attendances'.
Morning all, we really don't need any negative publicity or stirring up the media when results are starting to get better. Cellino just doesn't know how to stay out the limelight, he is worse than a spoilt kid. If Byram won't sign a new contract sell him for whatever we can get now while we are in control, if we leave it in the hands of a tribunal we could get badly stung.
Morning all. Re the Sky thing, I detest what they've done to football. These two Leeds games in 48 hours when no one else is playing coupled with a Brighton fixture moved to a Monday is farcical. Compensation for loss of revenue tonight, a measly 100k. No point in comparing their operation in the pl as vast riches are involved. Cellinos been on about this for a while, so some sort of actions been in the pipeline. Looks like it'll be the Twitter feed for me tonight
Well we won't go unpunished, at the start of the season you know what is expected of you. The FL will want to ensure this NEVER happens again, I expect a very hefty punishment, remember Cellino is already disliked yet he hands the FL another loaded gun. Sky won't be too happy either so plenty of negative reporting on the way...
Morning all. The sky situation is interesting. If we are legally required to allow Sky access, there's not a lot we can do. But we are featuring more than I would expect. Maybe Cellino thinks Sky should be paying more for the games than they currently are. On Byram, I'd rather not see him sold. But £8m+ would be my starting point. Maybe by holding on to him & making the playoffs will be enough of an insentive for him to sign at the end of the season. On tonight's match, I hope we get at least a point. But we need Wood to step up. Fingers crossed
Morning ristac, What surprises me is that the BBC are reporting Cellino's decision is because of lack of people attending game, however the more reliable source of Phil Hay is saying it's because of changes in fixture dates causing us to have to play a day or so sooner than other teams on quite a few occassions
100k from Sky, we could have a good party with that. Think of the sofa you could get. please log in to view this image I agree with you, though it certainly makes it more interesting with all the money flying about. I'll be on the hunt for a feed
eLFC as a competing club are bound by the arrangemnts the umbrella organisation (football league) make. There is no way he can win this one. Yet again he starts a fight he can't win just so he can play the victim card....fooking pathetic and he embarrasses all of us. The cave in will happen about dinner time, hope sky then say they cant set up in time and don't show the game and the FL then punish Cellino as hard as possible........ The ego maniac cant help himslef can he? its not as though we weren't on tele loads before he bought us, and he could say things have changed.
Morning Boggers, we have though. We have turned them away. We'd be very lucky to get 8m due to length of contract. If they sold him for that, then reinvested it all, I'd be happy.
Evans takes another swipe at the fixtures, saying Derby should have been told to play Fulham at 4.30pm on Sunday.
Cellino wanted to see the sky contract to see how many games we are contractually obliged to have shown. The FL refused to show him the contract. Surely he's entitled to see that so he's taken this action to force their hand. Easy for the FL to sort I'd say. What's funny though it's fans whinging about sky moving the Brighton game to a Monday and now whinging when we try to do something about it. #ficklefans
Morning Glory, wise words. An old Area Manager said to me once, know which battles you can win, then decide whether they are worth going after.
In Spain the money gets split with Barca and Real getting the Lions share of any money, think its the same in Scotland,so I do agree with Cellino on this one,our TV crowds are twice that of any other team, its our attendances which lose money why should we finance the Rotherhams and Mk dons of the league after all they all screwed us over.Bad timing would be my only problem with his stance, maybe he should tell them keep their £2 million a year sky money and from next season no Leeds home games will be televised until we get a better deal.
Morning troops. I'd do a Beckford & hold on to Byram until one of his many suitors pays us what we want. Again, the longer we can hold on to him, the greater the chance he'll see sense and re-sign
Good morning from a sunny Bardsey Well it wouldn't be us if we weren't involved in controversy .It looks like another court case I think Bryam will leave and Bridcutt will be bought along with Cummings from Hibs I see he scored a good goal yesterday against Rangers.Another face I expect to see his Lafferty again we can afford to buy him with the Byram money another name has just come up Patrick Bamford on loan ,Where will Byram go ....Sunderland he is not good enough at present to get into a top team My team for this evening Silvestri Coyle Bamba Cooper Taylor Dallas Byram Bridcutt Bianci Erwin Wood Subs Cook Duke Antenucci Wootton Sloth Aedeymi GK MY theory on banning Sky to try and get fans to buy tickets this morning fans who were going to watch it on TV and then allow Sky in at the last minute
