Some very interesting answers coming from the Colin Sexone interview,he states that.....

    * "Leicester had offered far in excess of £6m and it was hard to resist.."

    * "Football is a gamble and thats the name of the game.."

    * "Nicky Maynard is still a BCFC player and they can offer him a contract, any time.."

    * "It (resisting Leicester's advances) was very hard. Leicester were very determined to try to get Nicky right up until the very end (of the transfer window)."

    * " We certainly didn't want to sell him to a Championship club. If a Premier League side had come in with an offer that would have been a different kettle of fish.."

    * "The board was adamant that we wanted to keep Nicky Maynard.."

Several things, which we all suspected have been thrown up from some of these answers,Leicester City wanted Maynard far more than our need to sell, hence 4 attempts and £6m plus offer,no Championship club would have got him but a Prem club would have,a new and better contract is being offered, the decision was out of Sextones and Millens hands, the board makes the decisions (via Lansdown)..

So don't worry fellow City fans,Steve Lansdown is still at the helm,I think..

Dont understand you lot not selling Maynard because with or without him your not going to get promoted or relegated, the end result will be that BCFC will be £4-£6m worse off as I think you can all see he is not going to sign a new contract with you and a Premiership team will certainly take a punt on him as he is obviously a quality player. Would have been better selling and using the money, plenty of bargains available.

yes but the reason why you want him in your team is the same reason we do, hes the best striker in the league, why would we sell him to a championship team so he can come back and bite us in the ass, no thanks, one player i would hate to be on the opposite team would be maynard, so for that reason we keep him, hes the best and he plays for us simples..........

We turned down £6m+?! Bloody hell.. I'd have sold him tbh. Oh well, hard to feel disappointed about keeping a great striker here! =D

The board aren't stupid, they would've sounded out Maynard and he's obviously not interested in going to Leicester.

The transfer window is shut and he remains a Bristol City player, get over it <ok>

Am I right in thinking he is into his last year of contract?? (Happy to stand corrected if wrong).

TBH, is this is the case then I think the most likely outcome will be a prem club getting him in Jan for about £3-£4 mill if he's having a good season and interest remains (I can see Swansea needing a striker who knows where the back of the net is by then!).

Failing that he will probably run his contract down and go for nothing at the end of season and get himself the best deal possible.

Get over it? It dont bother me, Im a Cardiff fan we're not trying to sign him. I just thought it may bother your board that you will lose a £4m + player for nothing at the end of the season or get a much lower figure in January as he clearly isnt going to sign a new contract.

I think Wize may be on to something........get him to sign a new, improved deal, that will tie him for 3 years or so,if he bangs in the goals between now and January and a prem team does come in for him we can sell him for 5 or 6 million.
    And so it goes on...............

    'The board Are in Control'

They don't give me that impression at all.
Feel we are drifting, rudderless in fact. Sextone's interview was almost as soporific as the charismatic Millen.

Off on holiday tonight and will miss the Brighton game. Hope they get a decent reception just for the Brighton chairman who drove up to Bristol to speak on our behalf against those 'nimbies'.

My take on the interview is not that far away from yours Rp and I agree the Sextone and Millen combo is like taking a sleeping pill..

During the reported interview CS used words constantly like,"we,the board and hard to resist,it's a gamble",that to me says Sextone and Millen are not the men in charge, they are yes men only...

Steve Lansdown is the man in charge..

i hope steve sells the club to some arabian billionaires, they bring in a world class manager we decided to scrap our plans at ashton vale and go elsewhere to build, they then spend 30 million on a new team get maynard to sign and were sat in our new ground watching bristol city vs man utd in 2014 (if some of you old uns last that long ;) ) ohhhhhh i can dream, so on that note ill continue :emoticon-0113-sleep
