A rotting animal leg that has sat atop a bus stop for "a few months" has raised hackles in Clapham Junction.

The severed limb - that of a goat according to one report - was first spotted on the clear-roofed bus stop by Riz Wasti, who tweeted at Wandsworth Council: "Seeing this leg of lamb at bus stop Y near Clapham/Northcote Road for few months.

    "Prob well done by now?!"

Wandsworth referred the matter to Transport for London (TfL), calling it "not a very nice sight" and asking them to remove it.

@RizWasti Not a very nice sight! @TfL please can you remove this from the roof of your bus shelter o/s 79 St. John's Road, SW11 1QZ

    — Wandsworth Council (@wandbc) April 13, 2015

The Wandsworth Guardian reports the aroma has got one commuter's goat, with graphic designer Suzanne Perkins asking the paper: "Why has it been there so long? What is going on with general street cleaning?

"It’s just awful. It is weird and bizarre. I think it's funny in a sense of it being a bizarre object but really quite serious when you think what is happening in the urban environment?"

'Bizarre': The severed limb has been there for months, one man said (Picture: Riz Wasti)TfL told the Standard it was taking action to remove the leg today - nearly three weeks after the council asked it to do so.

It is not known how the leg came to be on top of the shelter.

Nothing gets between a drunk man and his fast-food – not even a polystyrene box, it seems.

This guy got the hunger pangs in a big way after what appears to have been a massive night out.

He popped into a takeaway joint and chowed down on a kebab.

Workers couldn’t help but start filming when their customer aggressively chomped into the box and ate it without noticing.

SEATTLE, May 4 (UPI) -- Seattle police said emergency responders rescued a shirtless man found holding a hammer and hanging from a basketball hoop by his foot.
The man, whose name was not released, was found about 6:30 p.m. Friday hanging from the hoop in Cal Anderson Park by his foot, which was stuck in the netting.

Police said the man, who was shirtless and holding a hammer, was thrashing around in an attempt to free himself before firefighters were able to remove the netting and free the man's foot.

It was unclear how the man ended up in his predicament.

Police said the man was was taken into custody and could face charges.

"Shirtless man removed from Cal Anderson basketball hoop. He may be arrested for property destruction, or at least goal-tending," Seattle police tweeted.

Sudan man forced to 'marry' goat
please log in to view this image

A Sudanese man has been forced to take a goat as his "wife", after he was caught having sex with the animal.
The goat's owner, Mr Alifi, said he surprised the man with his goat and took him to a council of elders.

They ordered the man, Mr Tombe, to pay a dowry of 15,000 Sudanese dinars ($50) to Mr Alifi.

"We have given him the goat, and as far as we know they are still together," Mr Alifi said.

Mr Alifi, of Hai Malakal in Upper Nile State, told the Juba Post newspaper that he heard a loud noise around midnight on 13 February and immediately rushed outside to find Mr Tombe with his goat.

"When I asked him: 'What are you doing there?', he fell off the back of the goat, so I captured and tied him up."

Mr Alifi then called elders to decide how to deal with the case.

"They said I should not take him to the police, but rather let him pay a dowry for my goat because he used it as his wife," Mr Alifi told the newspaper.

Man widowed after his goat 'wife' chokes to death
    By FRED ATTEWILL

    Last updated at 15:45 04 May 2007

A Sudanese man who married a goat was in mourning today after his wife died when she swallowed a plastic bag.

Charles Tombe shot to fame last year when he tied the knot with Rose.

A court ordered him to marry the beast "to save her honour" after he was caught making amorous advances toward the mother-of-one in the middle of the night.

Mr Tombe and Rose are believed to have lived happily ever after until her life was cruelly cut short.

The story, which became one of the world's best read tales, began in Juba, southern Sudan, in February last year when the BBC reported that the then owner of the goat, Mr Alifi, was awoken in the night by a strange noise.

Walking out of his traditional hut, he was confronted by the sight of Mr Tombe and Rose in a passionate embrace.

Today the Times reported that Mr Alifi said: 'When I asked him "What are you doing there?" he fell off the back of the goat, so I captured and tied him up."

When Mr Tombe was brought before a council of elders he claimed he was drunk when Rose caught his eye.

He was ordered to pay Mr Alifi a "dowry" of 15,000 Sudanese dinars - about £25 - since he was considered to have used the goat "as his wife."

In the same way a man is expected to marry a woman if he has sex with her in southern Sudan, Mr Tombe was deemed to have married Rose.

However, despite a happy marriage money was tight and Rose died after swallowing a plastic bag as she scavenged for food on the streets of Juba.

She is said to have left a male kid - not a boy. It is not yet known whether she will be cremated or used in a local speciality of goat curry.

Tom Rhodes, a Briton who helped to found the Juba Post which first broke the story, said townsfolk still congratulate him.

“It shows the Sudanese have a sense of humour,” the Times reported he said.

    • en off EAR found on floor but police don't know who it belongs to
WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGE The victim fled the scene despite suffering a serious injury - concerned detectives don't believe he sought any medical treatment

Gruesome: It is believed the victim lost a lot of blood during the incident
Part of a man's ear was left lying in the middle of the pavement after being bitten off in a horrific town centre fracas.

Despite suffering the serious injury, the man fled the scene leaving the severed ear – complete with a diamond stud – on the street.

Although he lost a lot of blood detectives don’t think he’s sought medical treatment.

Trouble flared in the lower part of King Street, in Huddersfield, at 9.20pm last night.

The incident was picked up on CCTV and police were on the scene within minutes, reports the Huddersfield Examiner.

But when they arrived the victim had left the scene and has subsequently not been traced despite extensive enquiries.

The rest of the group ran off.

Detectives are urgently appealing for the man to seek medical attention and to get in contact with them.

Two men aged 37 and 45 have been arrested on suspicion of wounding.

Det Insp Ian Thornes, of Huddersfield CID, said: “This person has suffered a serious injury during a street disturbance during which the top part of his ear has been bitten off.

“The severed part of his ear was recovered from the scene containing a diamond stud.

Ouch: The severed ear recovered from the street in Huddersfield

“Checks have been carried out and it would appear this man has not been treated at hospital despite suffering significant blood loss which was noted at the scene.

“It is imperative he seeks medical attention and gets in touch with us.”

Police believe the attack will have been witnessed by a crowd of drinkers enjoying the bank holiday weekend.

They are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened.

Det Insp Thornes added: “We are treating this incident as isolated. We would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or the aftermath to get in touch.”

Staff at the Aldi stores in Berlin were stunned to discover millions of pounds worth of cocaine hidden in banana boxes
Drug barons in Columbia will be going bananas after £11million worth of cocaine hidden in fruit boxes was accidentally delivered to a group of Aldi supermarkets.

Large shipments of the drug were mistakenly delivered to 13 branches of the supermarket in Berlin in what police have labelled "a logistical mistake".

Packets of the class-A substance were found hidden in boxes of bananas that travelled through the port of Hamburg and onto the budget grocery stores.

Bizarrely, it is not the first time the supermarkets have received an unwanted shipment of drugs.

Police say the shipments from Columbia were sent to the supermarkets in a 'logistical mistake'

In January, £5million worth of cocaine was delivered to the very same stores.

Aldi staff in Berlin discovered the cocaine wrapped up between bananas as they unpacked the fruit, according to the local newspaper Berliner Morgenpost.

Drug smugglers regularly conceal their illegal shipments as everyday goods to bypass strict border controls.

Police in Germany discovered a massive 727lbs of heroin, reported to be the biggest single seizure for decades, in a truck shipping pickled cucumbers and garlic from Iran in October.

It is the second time Aldi stores in Berlin have received a large shipment of drugs

Last year, American delivery company FedEx accidentally uncovered a drug smuggling operation when they inspected a damaged package in Washington.

An inspection of a damaged packet led to the discovery of a drug-smuggling business that delivered hundreds of illegal painkillers around the US, according toKxly/ABC news .

One gang from the West Midlands even concealed heroin in packets of chilli powder but the shipment was intercepted at Leeds Bradford airport.

    Monty or Wearside Pride?

A “STUPID” robber who dropped his mobile phone at the scene of a frightening street attack was caught when he rang the police to try and get it back.

Paul Knight had grabbed his victim’s handbag strap as she walked in Farringdon, Sunderland, with her husband at night and dragged her to the ground, leaving her bruised and scared.

You dropped your mobile phone and in a rather unsophisticated act you telephoned the police and inquired if someone had handed it in. That is how you came to be arrested.
    Judge Edward Bindloss

When the 25-year-old mugger later realised he had dropped his phone during the struggle, he called the police to see if he could get it back.

As a result of his call, Knight, of Anglesey Square, Sunderland, was arrested.

At Newcastle Crown Court yesterday he was jailed for two years and four months after pleading guilty to robbery.

During the hearing Knight was branded “stupid”, “incompetent” and “unsophisticated”.

Judge Edward Bindloss told him: “You dropped your mobile phone and in a rather unsophisticated act you telephoned the police and inquired if someone had handed it in. That is how you came to be arrested.
