Hull Tigers drop down the leagues. The Johnny- Come -Latelys, Premier League Plastics and Macmillian "We've never had it so good" collaborators are all noticeably absent during the start of a league 2 campaign. CTWD are manning the front line and reserve trenches and make up the vast majority of the crowd. Perhaps I am being too cynical and should remember AA's most notable quote - " When 1860 Munich changed their name to Bayern thats when the jet plane really took off."
Amazed at some of the texters and callers to RH today. I could have argued the toss with every one who was in favour of Hull Tigers and the Allams. Because their argument did not add up. They all claimed that the 9,000 who didn't vote were all happy with the name change. I'd say many didn't receive the promised email from the club, others don't know how to download a voting form (I don't own a printer) and others thought the ballot was so obviously loaded that they kept well away from it. And perhaps some just couldn't be bothered. All those in favour said 'it's just a name change, get on with it' I'd say if it was JUST a name change how come virtually everyone of voting age was willing to call to arms when Humberside replaced The East Riding ???? Wasn't that just a name change ?
Why doesn't he call his firm 'Tiger Marine'? Have Cas Tigers gone global yet? Has 'The Jungle' been renamed the 'Eli Aziz bin Muhammad Stadium' yet? And what of Leicester Tigers? Have Esso or Tiger beer been in for them yet? So many questions.....
The poll was Allam asking the silent majority to support him or face his wrath. All bar a dubious two and a half thousand effectively said get ****ed.
One of the most disappointing aspects of this sad fiasco is the number of quislings and 'owt to stay in the Prem- - I just want to see quality football' brigade. This episode makes me see some sections of our 'support' in a new harsh light.
I know people who do not want Hull Tigers, they did not get a form and did not want one because of the loaded questions. I do think they feel a bit sheepish now though and wished maybe they had voted no. It is annoying to think Allam can claim a victory. I see the HDM are running a story now on how they are not going to walk away. It is a way out of a big hole for him if only he can now drop the whole appeal thing when (hopefully) the FA announce their decision tomorrow.
To be honest, I think many people probably used that .pfd ballot form as bog paper. That's all it was fit for. History will not judge the Allams kindly.
We already have Cottingham Tigers. Hardly grabbed the Asian market. Where are the Hull City Council's good wishes for Sunday ? Will Nadine Fudge be representing the city in the corporate seats with her chains of office ? Where will John Prescott be sat ? You can bet your life the Sheffield MP's (also rank Labour) will be there. When will HCC portfolio holder for leisure and tourism be adding his good wishes, like he did so loudly for the 'World Championship Darts tournament' which attracted 1,200 people to the City Hall in Hull and the rugby league world cup which attracted just over that paying customers ? Does Steve Brady know there is a game on ? He would have been featured on the front page of the HDM by now if this was a rugby league semi final, complete with black and white scarf. If City win where will the open top bus tour be ? Are there any plans for a civic reception ? Will we see the Finalists, win or lose, paraded on the City Hall balcony ? Or will less then 5,000 have to apply for tickets for a hastily arranged and amateurish, not to mention embarrassing 'celebration' at the KC. So many questions.
I hope our larkers are 100% focused and their superior talent wins out on Sunday. Because off the pitch, Sheffield have run our Premiership operation ragged. 32,000 tickets already sold...more on the way. Fan-friendly arrangements and a club that knows how to harness momentum and support. As opposed to ours, who only speak to trumpet their own spiteful 'we're in charge' agenda, and don't seem to realise what week we're in.
Even if the FA reject the name change, the result of this ballot, and the way it's been reported, has made us look tinpot and sell outs. Our reputation is now in tatters. as MK Dons mrk 2. I'd like to get to the bottom of the problems with the Ballot. I'd also like to know why people didn't vote.
âDoes Steve Brady know there is a game on ? He would have been featured on the front page of the HDM by now if this was a rugby league semi final, complete with black and white scarf.â Odd that he didnât do that for Hullâs Challenge Cup Final last season isnât it? Though I do agree, HCC should be shouting about it. "Will we see the Finalists, win or lose, paraded on the City Hall balcony ? Or will less then 5,000 have to apply for tickets for a hastily arranged and amateurish, not to mention embarrassing 'celebration' at the KC." I'd guess that it'll be probably worse than that.
It did seem that way. All I saw of it was on the news: those blokes each dressed as Superman (lovely sense of humour) leaving before the end.
I sense they are from the aspiring '"I'll do owt to get on. Me! Me! Me!" types who 'demand' top quality football and won't tolerate the Championship. Keen to embrace change, they are distinguished by their brown tongues and faeces-laden nasal hairs.
I don't want to fall into the Allam trap of making things up to suit my argument but I reckon the vast majority of the season ticket holders who voted yes are johnny come latelys since 2007- i.e. spoilt bastards with no sense of tradition, or where the club has come from. It makes me sick actually that people would let the owner change the name with no real basis, as it implies they would let anybody walk over them when it matters- spineless
