    What does the clubs stance with Carroll say to the rest of the squad?

    Particularly players whose contracts are up for renewal (Jose, Joey), will they be as keen to stay now the big man is leaving? What does it say about the clubs ambition?

    This could potentially start a chain reaction with some of our other senior players who quite rightly are asking 'what the hell is going on'

    Let's not look into this too much. We potentially have £35m to spend in the Summer, we've parted with a so-called 'loyal' player who was not actually 'loyal' all along and we've not been doing too bad without AC.
