Since the arrival of MON we have been on a roller-coaster that has lifted everyone at the club. Over the past few games we seem to have hit a few blips, well debated, but we could lose against Villa, Fulham and United and lose or draw against Bolton leaving us ending the season on a downer.

The question is how will that leave us fans feeling?

    Still happy and hopeful.

    Happy but flat.

    Unhappy and down.

I know the obvious answer, the one we want to hear is number 1, but what is the honest answer, the one you cant bring yourself to admit.

BTW this is not a MON doubter more a human feelings question.

I can't honestly see us finishing so badly, but if we did I would be bloody angry more than anything else as that would mean our players haven't put the effort in.

Number one, whatever happens for the rest of this season.
The summer will tell us what we need to know.

What we really have to ask ourselves is aren't we happy with not having to worry about a relegation scrap, as after 10 games in I thought that was a real possibility. MON's arrival has lifted expectations with the same players that looked doomed as a team at the start so I'm now just looking forward to the summer to see who he brings in. I think he and Short realise he has wrung everything he can out of this team and needs to introduce another couple of quality players to beef up the squad. I'm not expecting miracles and not looking at players that would fit in to a top 4 side but for me it has to be players that are better than what we have and that along with holding onto Sess and McClean would have me excited for next year with a push for the top 8 a realistic target and anything more a bonus (just look at the mags!).

Happy & hopeful we have MON and the summer to look forward to and hopefully onwards and upwards. My one hope for the next few games is MON gives Gordon a game as well as some of the younger lads get them blooded when we have only pride and a bit of cash to lose.

    Won't hapen! :D

... but if it does, honestly I would feel a bit gutted. That would see us finish 15th or worse, and after being in contention for 7th at the start of April it would bring back that "same old sunderland" feeling. Having said that, I'd still be hopeful for the summer. Although, personally I'm a bit anxious about the transfer window, mon has always been a bit hit n miss with transfers imo, and his policy of rarely buying foreign players could put us at a big disadvantage as far as improving the squad is concerned.. Still, wait and see! Always fun being a sunderland fan, lol.

    Happy but flat.

Everyone's hope were built up after such a good start...

Fighting for a potential Euro place, FA cup 1/4...

Then the reality of the limitations of the squad hit home...

I thin we have just worked it out, we need 1 more point to avoid the drop, mathematically.

But if and yes its a big if.

Aston Villa, Wigan, QPR, Bolton win all their games (Bolton dont even have to) and we dont get another point, then QPR will be on 43 points.

we are +20 GD ahead of QPR though, so they need some biggish wins and we need some heavyish losses to turn that around.

Will it happen, NO, is it possible, anything is possible in football.

I still want us to go out there and finish as high as possible though, my worry is, if we have no chance at all of signing Bendtner, then why are we playing him, esp every game, doesnt make sense.

We need max points & MoN doesn't have the faith in the others to do the job.

but we are not scoring, so if he isnt doing it and he still plays him for us to get max points, then god help us.

Bendtner is scoring... granted not against wolves or Everton, where he spent most of his time on the wings cos Larsson wasnt putting any effort in and Mclean was being doubled up on.

    Bendtner WAS scoring

Still dont really see the point of him being our number 1 striker, if we have no chance of getting him.

and he always goes on the bloody wings.

I don't think this is how it will pan out like this but ask yourself this.

Would you have taken 15th back on December 3rd? This season has been saved and comfortably. I have already turned my thoughts towards August and a first full Marty season.
