I thought I'd jump the gun and start this thread now. It should be an interesting topic over the summer. The Spuds may still get 4th, and may still get in the CL if Chelsea don't win it, but if they don't, who is gonna leave, and who will buy them?

    Bale - Real Madrid
    Modric - Man City
    Walker - Man United
    Van Der Vaart - Milan
    Lennon - Chelsea
    Gallas - PSG
'Arry Redknapp - England Manager's Position
    Friedel - OAP Home

Well if guardiola watched Bale today , he may be inclined to revise their interest .

    In a downward fashion .

  4. I think Bale, Modric, and VDV are basically gone. Spurs had a run at it - spent a lot on transfers, and did well with getting players in on lower wages, but their attempt to break into the top tier of football is failing, and I think it will take them many years to recover.

I don't think we'll see them threaten the top 4 again for a long time.

Of course, they have a final 4 games to avoid this, that's how important CL is nowadays.

Try and predict who will be left behind, that could be more interesting ;)

Defoe, Kaboul, Nelsen, Rose, Parker, Friedel (before he retires), Livermore, Caulker, Saha, King.

I think this thread is bang on.

I think part of the reason they're failing is because a number of players are only there/still there (Modric) because they like Arry. As he might leave they're considering their options which means they lose focus on actually winning games.

If he goes I can see them losing quite a few...

    Modric, Bale, VDV in particular.

Vdv has said he doesn't care about cl, bale I think has one more season but modric will probably go which doesn't bother me too much. More depends on who our next manager is then CL imo

I wonder how much newcastles scouts would cost...

tbh harry may be tactically inept but your transfers seem to be pretty good (strikers aside) why would you want newcastle scouts?

If only 'Arry could buy players for England he would make an excellent manager!

I could see Modric going to Man Utd to replace Paul Scholes.

Not sure about the others. I don't think Spurs can afford Adebayor on a permanant contract without CL football.

Modric, your best player and you are not bothered much ???
VDV not caring about CL football shows a lack of ambition, maybe happy to just get a decent pay packet ??

Not as much as he could elsewhere!

Modric is good but not enough goals for me. Easily replaced imo

Bale will end up at a big club like Barca and will ulimately disappoint and end up back at a club like Tottenham/Newcastle/Liverpool.

The reason is that he has all the athletic ingredients to be top class but lacks the goals/assist that the top wide players get.

When you compare him to the the worlds 'top' players in his position its clear he does'nt have the end product (even our own Theo Walcott outperforms bale) despite the massive amount of praise the young Welshman gets from the british press. I dont see how Walcott can receive soo much critiscm while Bale gets soo much praise when in reality, they are pretty much on the same level.

Neither are up there with Messi, Ronaldo, Sanchez, Ribery, Villa.

  20. They have completely imploded. But in terms of power shift, that's history. They did catch us and go past us - I have no doubt about that. No shift of power is ever permanent, though. Unfortunately for the Spuds, their time in the sun looks like it lasted 6 months, not 15 years.

When you reach like they have done to compete at the highest level, failure is catastrophic. Players get a taste for the big games and simply wont stick around to play for 6th place. Personal greed, fame, fortune, ego, etc.. drives footballers these days.

Its the same with us - if we miss out this year on CL football we will lose our best players. Missing out on the top 4 for clubs trying to stay/get into the CL is more damaging than for clubs like Wigan getting relegated. The difference between 4th and 5th is more significant than between 17th and 18th.
