'The Big News' of Saturday morning is that Nigel Adkins has signed a new 4 and a half year contract The deal was struck in January but the club kept it quiet until now. This is exciting times for the Saints as we don't need to be dreading a sack every year and apparently they have a good chairman, manager relationship.
Bloody good show.........See I do swear occasionally........that really is good news. It also gives NA a bit of Stability as well as the club. so now on to the next season. Ok Nigel what is next.....who are the players that are going to get us there? we are eagerly awaiting your response. Please don't leave it to the end of the transfer window just to pick up what is left.......Puuuuuhleeeeeease!!!!!
Great news A long term contract sends a message of stability for the future. I suspect that if Cortese is a man not to be crossed but if he is backing you he will make damn sure you succeed Four and a half years that's going to be some service bill for the bus Ding ding
Must stay I love the way business conducted at SMS under CORTESE! Behind closed door and in strict confidence as all business should be! Yet AGAIN... CORTESE ... Thank You!
They kept this quiet for 4 months... great show and perhaps a signal of intent reminding everyone how SFC operates.
Great news. The guy came in and instilled a new resilience in our players, which helped us grind out loads of quality results, even when we weren't playing at our best. Let's see what he can do in the championship, he was going for the playoffs this year with Scunny, let's hope he can do the same with us. All aboard!!
This is of course great news for the club and very well handled by all involved. I am a bit suspicious though of what has been reported on the os. to quote ' First team manager Nigel Adkins said, Nicola and i had a brief discussion in January'................................................... A brief discussion in January........a brief discussion....brief............Nigel Adkins - brief discussion.......... i have my doubts but anyway congratulations.
The conspiracy theorist nit picking, the probable conversation was "Do you want it or not" What more needed to be said?
this is nearly as good news as getting second place. NC is a breath of fresh air, and has no hankering for the limelight - unlike a previous chairman we could all name! In NA we have a young ambitious manager who wants us to play football in the right way. We will make a few key signings in the summer, retain our young stars like Lallana, and OXO and continue to develop the club in every area. At last we have a Board, team and manager we can be really proud of! The future is bright... the future is red and white! COYRs
Thanks Redstripe, i love all about the club, definately not a conspiracy theorist.................although i dont know how Fonte got player of the season, very dodgy must be because he has a better song. Im Joking
Great news! About the same time that Adam signed his 4 year contract. Cortese is building what he wants and we'll see the fruits... But beware our chairman, p155 him off and you're on the black list
Adkins is not proven at the highest level , but IMHO by giving him this long term deal cortese is, I think , sending a clear message of his / marcus family's long term commitment to SFC , well the next few years anyway . It should make it easier to sign quality players esp when they see the plans for upgrading staplewood etc . It give adkins the confidence to look for players he wants to keep long term , players know if they sign because of him he will ( hopefully ) be around a while , better than signing for a manager on a one year rolling contract . This contract IMHO only sends out positive signs at the moment . Who knows what the future holds ? Na might get the push in a couple of years if we are not making a serious promotion push by end of 2012 / 2013 season ( or worse ) But for now colour me happy & All this from the worlds biggest pessemist
I have been so impressed with he way that Cortese does his business dealings - the lack of professionalism I see in 'professional' football (players, managers and owners alike) often beggars belief! Considering the sums involved and the inherent risks associated with the short termism in football, I see NC as a breath of fresh-air and I am delighted that it happens to be to our club. I remember when AC Milan came knocking on St Marys asking for his services; ever more I understand why. Thank you NC for providing the business direction and sound forward planning that has brought stability and a positive future for our beloved team.
