We severely lack goals and that needs to be put right. Some of the players we currently have will find another level with better players around them I'm sure, whether JoeLinton can remains to be seen but I think we've all seen enough of him to know that he is not an out and out striker who can play up top on his own. We should be looking for a return of 20-30 goals per season from our strikers combined at the very least (shearer was the last striker to get 20+ league goals in a season, he retired 14 years ago). I'd like to see us go out and get our business done early but again that is going to depend on the takeover happening or not. Any early signings (ahead of any announcement) will surely give us some clues as to whether it's happening or not.
Not an option for me I'm afraid. We would need to sign a left back just to stand still really (Bentaleb and Lazaro haven't really been regular starters for us). Out of the 3 loanee's i'd be inclined to go after Lazaro if the price is right but I can only see this happening if SB is still in charge. Rose is **** and Bentaleb is a ****ing waste of oxygen never mind the shirt.
Bleh, takeover has been floating around forever with no evidence to suggest anythings moving forward, so let Bruce get signing now. First season wasn't great for Joelinton, but after lockdown, we saw some glimpses that he could be useful playing alongside a nippy striker like Gayle and making space for then, so a high scoring striker has to be no.1 priority. The fact Shelvey was the top scorer with 6 tells you all you need to know. Of the loanees, Lazza looks talented and useful, so I'd sign him up, but Rose and Bentaleb can crawl back under their stones. Sign Matty up as a squad player, and get some more talent in midfield too, and a full back to replace Rose.
