Best odds on offer for relegation are 6/4
1/4 to finish in bottom half
3/1 to finish in top half
    33/1 promotion by any means

    I'm thinking:

400 points to finish in the bottom half and 100 points to get relegated. If we finish in the bottom half (virtual certainty?) that's a free bet on the relegation

Bottom half finish but stay up = no profit and no loss
Relegation = Profit of 250 points
Top half finish = 500 points loss

Looking at the promotion odds I see Sunderland are 3/1 to win outright and Evs to win promotion. They are very active in the transfer market.

Maximum bet at Evs for promotion

I would agree that they have to be favourites to go up, its not as easy as people think you need more than money to make a team as us & Accrington proved last year. Also only two go straight up & play-offs when anything can happen. From what I have seen they are also bringing in British players instead of players from abroad.

    Alright lads,

We were very cautious one month ago, the majority of us were looking for a top half finish after two consecutive relegations. I've got to be honest though, this new manager has come in and he's lit the place up again. McGeough who we signed from Hibs has been outstanding in every game so far, he was named in the SPL team of the year and won player and fans player of the year. We are playing very attractive football and although the opposition wasn't the best we took St Mirren apart 6-0 and followed that up with a 0-0 draw at MIddlesboro on Friday night, in a game we should have won against their strongest team. O'Nien and Baldwin seem to be getting good reviews and we've got some outstanding youngsters who will probably be following in Pickford and Hendersons footsteps.

I'm generally pessimistic but I think 11/8 for Sunderland to be promoted is an absolute gift. Good luck for the season ahead <ok>

11/8? Where are those odds available? I thought Evs was a gift for promotion. 11/8? Get on now <bubbly>

I thought I read the Middlesborough v Sunderland was called off because of an almighty thunderstorm during the game. I think we will be lucky to be playing them on the 17th Nov Ron, could end up another long trip for a midweek game. I have penciled this one in having been to Roker Park to watch the High Wycombe boys team including Mark West close on 40 years ago now.

How long before this looks a shrewd bet? How I would like to have egg on my face at the end of the season

Had a small bet on Marseille to win (you could say I bet on Toulouse to lose)

Best odds available for Wycombe now are:

    To finish bottom. 5/1
To get relegated. 5/6 (still decent value)
Bottom half finish. 1/6 (money for nothing - but wouldn't risk it - you never know what can happen in a season)

Promotion by any means 50/1. I think that is very poor value. I would want at least 500/1 to risk a quid
