Who do you think it is and who do you think should win this award?

for me is has to be Ryan Giggs, if someone else wins it i would be very very surprised.

Ryan Giggs has been the best premier league player for the past 20 years.

    Giggs, not a chance!

For me, best few I've seen are Cantona, Zola and Bergkamp.

I misread lol. Thought this was long term.....which leaves only Giggs.

Erm, Ronaldo, Henry, Cantona, Bergkamp, Keane, Scholes, VDS, peter schmeichel, RVN, RVP, Vidic, Rio, T.Adams, Vieira, Zola, Shearer.

    ****ing loads. Ronaldo for me.

Cantona. For his sheer impact on the 20 years of the premiership. He WAS the catalyst for the years of Utd dominance.

Depends on how you look at it, the three you mention for talent and outstanding ability are 'better' than Giggs for sure but for long term sustained excellence over the term of the premier league you can't look past Giggs.

Perhaps but I think Scholes edges Giggs.

That's opinion, which at the end is what it's all about. The general consensus is that Scholes is United best CM during the premier league era but I am adamant it is Keane. I could pick an all time premier league eleven containing eleven United players and be serious with a straight face!!

In fact, you could include five subs in that and they'd still all be United.

    Giggs.

Only other player who comes close is Scholes. Rest were flash in the pans.

Zola and Bergkamp are the 2 most overrated players in premier league history, look at there goals to games ratio in the Prem its dire, even Darren Bent has a better ratio playing for much weaker teams

I don't have the stats but wasn't Cantona's goal-per-game ratio quite poor? Saying that almost every goal he did score was pure class.

    May be wrong though.

Cantona's goal ratio for us was 64 in 144 which is alot better than Zola for Chelsea, 59 in 229 and Bergkamp for Arsenal 87 in 315.

Having said that I personally wouldn't rank Cantona alongside guys like Ronaldo and Henry, but he's still alot better than Zola and Bergkamp

Giggs for me, he has done everything, won everything, changed his game to adapt with the League and his age.
The only thing stopping him winning IMHO is his inability to keep his trousers on, and even then he scored with decent looking totty!
It *should* go to Giggs but I reckon they will give to Henry, who was a class act (although he blotted his copybook with the handball against the Republic...)

I'd go for Scholes myself, consistently got his head down and bossed games, making defensive midfielders redundant with clever passes. Not too egotistic, under-rated until recently IMO.

Giggs a close second, Shearer third. If Fowler had stayed with us a bit longer he'd be right up there!

Bergkamp. My favourite player of all time. The sheer genius of the guy and the way he could read a game. Also scored my favourite goal of all time against Argentina at France 98.

    There's 3 realistic players

Giggs - Won the most medals
Scholes - Is the most complete footballer England has seen in years
Shearer - Top scorer in PL

All of them probably deserve it but if it's going to go to one player then for me it's Scholes.
