I quite liked Chicago. Thought Moulin Rouge was absolute ****e. Evita was ok too. I'm no expert though! (nor am I gay)
Westside Story for me. The music of Gershwin in that was groundbreaking. Also happens to be probably the most difficult show I've played the music in. Other favourites are: The king and I Carousel Me and my Girl Calamity Jane Oklahoma The Sound of Music Bedknobs and Broomsticks My Fair Lady Mary Poppins (despite Dick Van Dyke) Paint Your Wagon
A film should never be a musical, its just an easy way to ruin a good film. But saying that the Southpark film did make me laugh
You surely put that in to see if anybody was awake Maestro; respect to you for playing music as complicated as Bernstein's
The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Basically, any musical with a transvestite in it
Also did Candide. Difficult, but nowhere near the levels of concentration needed as Westside Story. Did anyone see the show on TV back in the 80's when Bernstein did a workshop on Westside Story with Kiri Tikanawa and Jose Carreras? Nobody was spared Here's a clip though where Bernstein seems happy with the result. It also goes to show that he could write a simple tune and make it something special. Still get hairs on the back of my neck standing up
No it's not the one the one the mopey scouse scally's stole and made their own and then the the smelly tims from Glesga stole from the mopes, no, not that one. It's the waltz one
That's funny as I really liked Moulin Rouge and thought Chigago was pretty toss. Worst best picture winner probably in my life time. Singing in the rain is a great shout though.
Calamity Jane Paint Your Wagon Grease Fiddler On The Roof The Commitments Ah simple times when the whole family would watch those on a Sunday afternoon.
Come on Dan. You know you want to really. I'll help you.... When you walk, through a storm, hold you head up high, and don't be afraid...............
Throw High Society in there as well. I could listen to Sinatra, Crosby and Armstrong all day. Add the fact that Grace Kelly was bloody gorgeous
