    will he or won't he

‘The best finisher at the club’ will not be leaving Crystal Palace 07:31 23 July 2015 Pete Evans Dwight Gayle of Crystal Palace scored three times in this win over Barnet. (Photo by Ben Hoskins/Getty Images) Dwight Gayle ‘definitely’ has a future at Crystal Palace, according to chairman Steve Parish. The 24-year-old former Peterborough forward struggled for starts in 2014/15 due to the form of Glenn Murray and made just 11 in the Premier League all season. And newly-promoted Bournemouth have been constantly linked with Gayle as they look to prepare their side for life in the top flight of English football. But speaking to talkSPORT Parish was in doubt where Gayle will be playing next season. When asked if Gayle has a future at Selhurst Park he said: “Definitely. He is looking really good in training and Alan is very pleased with him. “Dwight is a fantastic goalscorer and probably the best finisher at the club. Glenn (Murray) would probably argue with that but they are neck and neck I think.” Gayle faces more competition for a first-team place following the arrival of Patrick Bamford on loan but he staked his claim for a first time spot with a hat-trick in a 5-3 friendly win against Barnet. Let's hope we can avoid him seeing the luton result. If he asks we're ****ed.
I've already been told though that he really doesn't want to come here and Palace are trying to force the move because of the clause on bolaise being waivered. So 6 million and a 15% off the bolaise sell cancelled works out about right. HOWEVER! Is this guy really worth a reported 40k a week?.... yes if we get promoted, or at least play offs no for anything else.

Sorry, £6-10m is crazy money and whilst we might have aspirations, paying someone £40,000 a week would surely unsettle the rest of the squad-That sort of money could still buy us another defender and CM which I think is better needed right now

This smacks of the debacle and panic buy of a striker that saw Maynard signing for us at a stupid price with stupid strings attached that in blind panic the board agreed to. No way is this guy worth £6 mill and the sell on clause from Bolasie being waved, no wonder Palarse want to force this through. I really hoped our board were past these knee jerk financial decisions, it would appear not.
If he doesn't want to come then he will insist on all sorts of crazy personal clauses like non- promotion, relegation, release, etc to test our mettle. And for what, a guy who has only ever had 1 good goal scoring season, and that was in the Conference for gods sake.

Mark my words this signing is financial suicide!!

He's worth 6m to be fair. Can see him being our "Jordan Rhodes" Will most probably score the majority of our goals. As I said earlier, if he helps us get promoted or at least in the top 6 it would have been a really good buy. 2m now days in this league is about right for players. We need to be paying top £££ to compete.

If £6 mil is the going rate then fair enough (still think he is not worth it, especially compared to Gestade who went for £7mill), but to lose the Bolaise sell on fee as well pushes the potential for this fee to be closer to £7.5-8 Mill in real terms, and that's befor personal terms, one hell of a punt for someone with a less than stellar game and goal ratio. I hope he does turn us down tbh.

He would be doing us a favour if he turned us down, so let's put our limited transfer kitty towards someone who would be thrilled to join us. Sorry Nicky not you.

I am glad he isn't coming tbh, if he wasn't sold on it from the get go then forcing him to come would have only been to our detriment in the long run. I would offer to Gayle though, that whilst I am sure in his own mind he may think he is Prem class and look down on little old Bristol City as not good enough for him, that is his perogative, however take a look in the mirror sunshine, if you ain't good enough to get in the Palace side, why would any other Prem side pay £6+Mill for you??

It was his choice and he's made it.

In fairness to him, his agent has probably put all sorts of ideas in his head about where he should or shouldn't play.

It's a shame. I would have liked to see him come here and I'm sure he would have been a star.

On the flip side, we've now shown clubs across the country that we are willing to pay for talent, and any bid we put in for a player now is bound to be inflated. Clubs know that we have at least £6-8m lying around to throw on players we desperately need. If Lansdown and co wanted a cheap deal, they certainly won't get it now. Poor management from the board yet again...

Rubbish, clubs have always know we have a rich owner, I think our transfer activity or lack of it has shown that we will not be held to ransom and we will only pay an amount that we think the player is worth

Lansdown might be a billionaire, but he's ultimately spent very little money on transfers over the past couple of years. The club operates on a loss, and before the stadium revamp very little had been done to increase our revenue. If we're not earning, we can't spend.

The lack of transfer activity has shown that we're penny pinching in a league that has long left us behind, and that kind of attitude is one that will lead us back to League 1. The Gayle saga has now shown that we're eager to spend due to our slow activity in the transfer window, which is why we're seeing inflated bids for players that aren't worth it (i.e. Tom Bradshaw).

If we had offered £4m at the end of last season we could have bought a couple of cracking players.
This all reeks of bad business AGAIN, and I have to say the buck stops at SL.
I mean, bless him for being Bristol City totally, but he freezes at the wrong moments when it comes to investing in players. The only exception I can think of is Maynard, and that went tits up in the end as well.

We need him to listen to Cotts again, like he did last summer

    Lets twist again...
