Now by this stage of the Euros I normally fall asleep. No goals, dull games, teams playing not to lose. But this time lots of goals, good games and teams going for it.

At 54 I cannot remember any Euro or for that matter World Cup whicg has been as good in the group stage.

    Or is it just me?

I've enjoyed every game so far. In a strange way the lack of quality is making it more interesting. Bar Spain - Ireland every game has been competitive

I agree mate, it's been a cracking tournament so far.

Agree with Billy on Euro '96, but bar Gazza, Italia '90 was dull as ****, the final was a typical sign of the whole thing!

The permutations of the remaining groups are incredible. The Dutch have been their own worst enemies and the game against Portugal is a must win by possibly 2 goals. Undoubtedly they are capable but the Portuguese are handy in holding on to what they have. I can see a bad tempered game coming up as the Dutch can be easily riled and the others are master nigglers. Should be a cracker but envisage a few red cards.

The tasty one is definitely our game against Ukraine. With them having to win at all costs to survive it will be a test and half for England. The kind of game where british cool will be heavily tested in a hostile scenario, so the older heads of Gerrard and Terry must perform. Playing for a draw may not be an option in the end.

It has been an excellent competition so far and if England get a result on Tuesday it will get even better...
