Swansea's promotion to the Premier League generated £58m for the Welsh economy, a Cardiff University study has found. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/posts/view/291071/Swansea-City-net-tidy-58m-for-Welsh-economy/ Found this on the BBC Football Gossip site. Do we still doubt that a new stadium is the top priority for City - after Championship survival.
Need a decent team to play in it first Looking forward to your west country derby if the Swindlers don't go back to back promotions?
I thought that if it is correct that Swansea's promotion to the Premiership has generated £58 million for the Welsh economy, then a not dissimilar sum could be considered if we ever got there. Forget the state of our team; forget the fact that it would not create so much if we are still at Ashton Gate. This sort of return for the area is way beyond what I and probably most others realised. It should put into perspective what the true loss at present is to the Bristol area because of all the delays to our new stadium and also the poor performance of our club over the last four seasons. One would hope that if this benefit is accurate, the the new Mayor and Bristol City council would be breaking their necks to get either us or Rovers or both into the Prem. Forget the humour about where we both are at present but obviously someone like SL realises this value of return because that is why he is funding City and Bristol Rugby and a new stadium.
To many ****ing snobs and NIMBY's in this city, they just object to everything out of sheer principle - this is why nothing will ever happen in this city and we will remain in the dark ages until the Government repeals the likes of the town "village green" act (which they ARE currently looking at)....
No civic pride and an apparent total lack of ambition will hold us back, and if you couple that with a club that hasn't got a clue where it wants to be then you come up with Bristol City Football Club. Absolutely terrible state of affairs if I'm honest and things might get even worse.
