There will be changes - Johnson Head coach vows to shuffle his pack to return to winning ways. Johnson promises changes for Ipswich clash Head coach has named the same starting XI in the last two games Boss wants City to be more clinical in front of goal Lee Johnson has promised changes to his side this weekend in a bid to return to winning ways. City host Ipswich Town at Ashton Gate on Saturday (3pm) on the back of one victory in their last eight matches. The head coach, who revealed he has already picked his team, says sticking with the same line-up who started the recent defeats at Birmingham City and Reading is not an option. “You have different thought processes on different games, but I think it’s been quite clear for me this week,” Johnson told Bristol City Player HD. “We’ve got the option to make changes – that’s the beauty of the squad. “I’ve had a look and there will be a couple of changes in there somewhere. There needs to be. “Like Einstein said, the definition of insanity is to keep on doing the same thing and expect a different result! “Sometimes you need to freshen things up, whether that’s a change of shape or personnel.” Johnson was pleased to see summer signing Gustav Engvall on target for City’s Under-23 side, also against Ipswich, on Monday – the striker’s first goal for his new club. “He showed he’s getting closer by coming on against Reading,” the boss added, after handing the Swede his league debut at the Madejski Stadium. “He did okay in the Under-23s and scored a good goal, but I want to see a constant threat – not just from Gustav but from all of our strikers. I think that’s the key. “We always work on our finishing, but it’s not just that – it’s the timing of the runs, it’s the delivery and what areas you want the ball played into. “We had 24 shots against Reading, which is a decent tally. We can’t be far off sticking a couple of those in. “Whether that’s down to a bit of luck, a little bit more work being needed or a little bit more confidence from the players in front of goal, we’ll try to encourage all of those elements.” Johnson has a fully-fit squad at his disposal as City return to Ashton Gate for the first time in 28 days on Saturday. http://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/there-will-be-changes-johnson-3445706.aspx
I know I will be fuelling the fire for the LJ knockers but stating that sticking with the same team isn't an option isn't really earth shattering seeing that Bryan is suspended
Quote Einstien all you like but just give us a home win - PLEASE !! that will be a result. “Like Einstein said, the definition of insanity is to keep on doing the same thing and expect a different result!
'Shows how insane Cotts was!' He wasn't insane at all, he gave me the best season since the 70's. He stuck to long with a back 3, but God almighty he never had anywhere near the backing Junior has received, and no doubt will continue to receive, from our Lord and Master, Lansdown. Junior's a very lucky boy, but it will end in tears, tears we've never seen at A G.
Einstein wasn't a footballer (I don't think). His theory doesn't apply when the 'challenge' you are trying to overcome is not a constant. The same tactics and personnel may not work against one team, but may work really well against another.
Newcastle haven't done us any favours tonight and we drop another place. Bit by bit, game by game......
LJ said ~ I’ve had a look and there will be a couple of changes in there somewhere. I'm sort of confused.. The head coach revealed he has already picked his team ~ Quoted LJ
He says all sorts of quirky things, lose tomorrow and the hot seat will get a far bit hotter. I was happy how he started, but gotta say not so impressed at present. Gotta a lotta people wondering why it has taken him so long to make changes to formation.
a couple of changes in there somewhere .... obviously hasn't found them! didn't take Einstein that long to figure it out ! again sounds like he is dithering. it can be one or the other or both ..think he has covered all eventualities
Like Einstein said, the definition of insanity is to keep on doing the same thing and expect a different result! - Someone should have explained this to Steve Cotterill as it was his undoing that he failed to see this!!
